Need Help Tuning my 318

Possible the timing chain jumped as mentioned. They came factory with NYLON toothed timing gears that are pretty notorious for going bye-bye and clogging your oil pickup full of nylon chips. not that i would know...bah.

Anyway, turn the motor over to TDC on the harmonic balancer. pop the distributor cap off and make sure the rotor is pointing twords where the #1 spot on the distributor cap is. If it seems right, go ahead and check all grounds and i'd swap the ecu out for a new one. You'll need a spare anyway, they go out when you need them to run. damhik on that either lol.

Also take a gander at the cap and rotor. If you've never replaced it, i'd recommend going ahead and doing so. You'll need to one day just as a part of a tune-up. And you can cross it off as a possible cause to your issue.

Also don't overlook something like bad gas. How old is the fuel in the car?
