John Geitz Jr. has posted parts for sale on here and never sends them. I paid $64 for a set of 1970 dart headlight bezels back on November 25th. After several emails which he never answered and even more unanswered phone calls I finally got him on the phone. He said he would ship them the next day. That was back on December 22nd. No returned phone calls since. :( His address is 21 Avon Ave Westville, NJ 08093. 856-803-8128 Anyone ever deal with him before or know him???

Never dealt with him but know how you feel, got burnt myself from a member seems to be a lot of this going on lately Good Luck with yours

There really should me a minimum post, and a sticky "buyer beware" or even a "rating" of some kind..I have seen polls on here, so why not do the same thing with buying?? My .02, I have never gotten screwed on here, ONLY BY FUPS!!

ok I have been on here quite a while.... I dont recognize that name... but... I dont know all 5000 + members either ;). What is his username on FABO ? Did this person have more then 5 posts ?? Its kinda hard to throw someone out on the carpet when you dont know both sides of the story. If you did indeed get taken for the money your out. I am sorry that it happened. People have to remember this site is getting larger by the day with population. Not everyone is your trustworthy buddy. Its simply buyer/seller beware as the site has nothing to do with the transaction. How did you pay him ? Paypal ? Postal money order ? If so then you might have some clought. I see people post buyer beware situations and drag someones name through the dirt only to find.... the whole story wasnt told, or someone was just pissed because they didnt like something. Know who your selling to... know how the transaction works, stay in contact. These items should help... even though I know there will still be the people that try to take advantage of others....The chat function in the evenings is a great feature. It allows you to more or less get to know people and maybe develop trust .. if your into buying and selling... thats a plus.

Good luck...

I have bought from john he is a seamen I think and after a couple emails and calls the item did arrive but it did take a while! Kevin.

Man, that sucks.....just absolutely no excuse for it. At least if there were some family problems etc., you could've and should've been notified. Good luck in tracking down your parts/$$.

I personally don't think it matters what line of work you are in, if you're going to list stuff for sale, be sure that you are able to be there to follow through with the deal. How hard is that??? If you can't follow through, don't list!!! Sound simple enough??? Geof

I paid via postal money order which is what he prefered. I also talked to him on the phone before I sent the money, he didn't have a problem answering my phone calls before I sent the money order, but it's been a dif. story since the money order was cashed...

I've posted this before, but I'll do it again.

These buyer beware posts get quickly buried, and the bad poeple continue to take advantage of the good.

This site is big enough that it needs a special area where buyers can post feedback for sellers. That way, any potential buyers can look up someone that they are thinking about buying from.

On this subjerct, what is the safest way to buy from someone you dont know?

I have been planning on buying some rather expensive (to me) items from several members on the board, but I dont know them. They seem very nice, but then again, this Geitz guy was easy to deal with until the money changed hands. I certainly dont mean to offend anyone, but hardly any of us know each other personally.

A thread where we could post information about sales between members would be great. I have bought several items from members & most of the time they are great to deal with & I would highly recommend them. It would be nice to have one place to talk about this so members could check & see if someone is worth dealing with. Something like ebay (I know, everyone hates ebay) where they rank sellers & buyers with positive & negative feedback.
Just yesterday I was looking to buy a part from someone on here & I asked if they would give me 1 day to let them know, I was told "...... I will hold it for a day for you.". When I got home from work & logged on to send him a PM asking about where to send the money, just a few hours later, I had a PM from him telling me that he had sold the part out from under me after telling me he would hold it. His justification was that he was getting more money for it than I was paying. I feel that I am old school & would have honored the fact that I told someone the part was theirs even if more money was involved. I would have at least sent a message explaining the situation & giving the original buyer a chance to finalize the deal we had first while explaining to the buyer offering more money that I had to give the first person a chance. I am not going to mention any names but I would if we had somewhere official to post such information. I won't forget it but if it became a pattern we all should know. If he knew whether or not he could take me seriously may have helped also, we have all had people tell us they wanted something & then never heard from them again.
To me, Mopars are not always about the money but a common interest to save these cars. I got my hopes up for a part I wanted & thought was going to be mine just to find out it wasn't. As usual, just my 2 cents, sorry if it is too winded.

you paid with a postal money order. awesome!!! go to the post office and get the paperwork to file mail fraud charges. they take it VERY seriously.
maybe email him and let him know what your doing as well.

that should speed up the process.

BINGO!

I have bought and sold a few items on this site and luckily have had no problems. There was a misunderstanding with someone who bought from me, and in the long run, I sent him the additional parts just to make it right. I try to buy within driving distance if I am going to spend a lot of money. I know gas prices are high, but if I get there, and the item is not as described, I just turn around and go home. My wife doesn't care much for the car hobby, but she love the drives to pick up parts. We get some quiet time alone and while I am looking out the window for "barn finds", she's looking for antique shops. I know that is not always possible, but there are enough good people on this site to try to "buddy up" in different states to check out high dollar parts. I've seen people volunteer to check out cars for someone out of state, lets look out for each other. There will always be scammers, but a legitimate seller will allow someone to see the parts for someone else before they buy. Try to pay through paypal if you are not sure. Paypal will at least try to get your money back if you are scammed. Lastly, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.......... Just my two cents.

If you paid with postal money order & sent the money through the mail then I'm pretty sure it would be considered mail fraud. Maybe the postal authorities can help.

It is MAIL FRAUD and the inspector general of the USPS should be able to help you out with this.

I once had someone on EBAY try to cheat me out of my money, they had paid through paypal and I had sent the item to them by USPS. Somehow the payment was disbupted on PAYPAL and then my money was gone. I mentioned to them that I was going to report them for mail fraud and the payment was returned the next day!

I have found out that if you offer to get the Post Office involved, it is like telling somebody they are about to win a date with my ex mother-in-law.

That has worked for me twice in the past 10 years.

That sucks...bad.....I sold a part to a guy on here here last week and he sent me a payment check through paypal...never seen it before I hasn't cleared yet...says to wait 5 days until paypal says ok..... They guy is probably dying because I won't ship the part....He knows what the deal is...but I ain;t sending nothing ill it;s paid for...EVRYBODY I HAVE DEALT WITH HAS BEEN AWESOME...HANDS DOWN..

I think at least some kind of feedback on sellers. That way people are less apt to try and sell junk or items not as described items. That way if you try to sell again people are less apt to deal with you if you can not be trusted. To bad there's always a bad seed or seaman? I agree if you list it for sale at least tell the person whats going on if you can not send it right away . No excuse for a month or 15 days wait.

i guess i'm from the old school, were honesty and morals matter.
a person is as good as there word.
i have never had any problems yet on this site, that is why it so great.
and we certainly don't need crap like that.

been there.... not pleasant but learned my lesson i now will not ship until cash is in hand.thats my 2 cents worth anyway,papa-d

Still some good folks out there. Motopsyco are doing a deal on books as we speak. After jerkin with him, for fun, back and forth i suggested we do the trust thing. I dropped the money in an envelope and will mail it today and he's mailing the books Monday. Sounds pretty simple to me. If your a crook, please leave. Thanks you.
