Keep in mind that '66-67 transmissions have the small-nose torque converter and the slipyoke type output. That's for slant-6 transmissions; think the changeover from small to large torque converter nose on V8s was similar, if not identical.
There's a 1/8" annular adaptor ring that lets you use a later engine with large crank counterbore in front of an early trans with small torque converter nose, but there's no adaptor ring that lets you go the other way.
