A-Body torque boxes?

From my understanding, all of the 72 Swinger 340 cars were dealer-order specials. Correct me if I am wrong, but I understood they were purposely batch built for the orders. Maybe it is possible that the purchasing dealers specified that all the cars received them? Do other known examples have the boxes?

I do know that all 69 cuda440s and GTS440s received them.

Yes, they were all Y39 special order cars and it could have been a dealer request (along with the order) to have torque boxes in place but like all the '70's etc., they were hit and miss, 2 on some, 4 on others and a couple didn't have them. That's truer for the '71 Swinger 340 Specials because there's more examples out there (21 of the total of 65) but there's only been 7 '72's found so far and I haven't been able to see and verify if they all have them or not. With that said, do we know if any other automatics got the boxes or was it just a manual transmission thing for A-bodies?
As a side note, not sure if you know, but with the 45 or 50 Crosstown cars ordered for '72, the other dealership that got the 'gifts' from head office was Pembina Dodge out there in Winnipeg - there's been only one example of that batch found - so, keep a sharp eye out! Even tho there were only a hand full of the Pembina cars (10 or 15) there should be a few survivors out there. They will have a VIN LL23H2R33330XX with a build date of 616 - spread the word... Cliff
