Leaking Windshield Gasket

As you can see, there don't appear to be any trim clips (or any sealant for that matter) at the windshield - see attached. I have also included a cut away of my understanding of how the trim clips work, since I haven't seen the clips with my own eyes. Please tell me if my understanding is correct.
