A stroker 408 build?

Hey all, Well.... While making a trip to the machine shop to have my rear axle studs put in.... I start talking to the machinist/owner.. Turns out to be a mopar guy. We start talking and he tells me he can make a stroker 408 out of my 360 for $3K... $2200 for the rotating assembly and about $700 for the machine work.

Is this an average price?

What has to be done to make a stroker 408? Is it a strong performer? I'll be using the car for bracket racing and street driven to local car shows.

What Carb, intake, cam works for this setup? It would be put in a 73 Duster, 727 reverse pattern 4200 converter, 4.11 rear.

Should I do this eventually for the money? Or stay with the 360?

Let's here some opinions/ thoughts. Thanks all.
Other than expense, there is little reason not to build a 408. ...Oh, and you traction will go to hell. (in a cloud of smoke)

What year is the block? The $2200 includes balancing, right? What crank will he be using? How much power do you want out of this Duster?

Like ‘toolmanmike’ said, get “How to build big inch Mopar small blocks". It’s a great book and cheap too. I got mine from Amazon.com
