318 to 390 hp?

Curious, why would you have to buy a new crank? But you're thinking along the right lines.
If you're going to buy pistons, and have a OEM set of rods re-done and a crank turned/polished, you are nearly there. Pistons all cost the same, $250 into reman a set of 40 year old rods vs. $300 for a set of SCAT I beams and the diff REALLY is the $400 for the cast 4.00" crank. A no brainer if you ask me.

Yea, 400hp is very do-able, and so is 450-475 ft lbs of torque!!
