O.K. DO NOT BUY PROFORM ROLLER ROCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Complete junk!!!! I was tightening the adjusting nut and the bolt broke in half! I really wouldn't consider myself a real strapping young lad, I'm no wuss, but c'mon if I can break the adjuster bolt do you really want this crap on your car. I'm sure the motor is a bit stronger than I am. So, I put the old reliable factories back on. Now I've got a ticking coming from the driver side!!!!!!!!! :x Any suggestions on what this could be? Everything is all tightened down, all lining up, why the ticking? I guess I shoulda heeded the warning. I'm glad the guy at my local speedshop is cool, he's letting me return them. STAY AWAY FROM PROFORM!!!!

Thanks for the first hand heads up :thumleft: Sorry you had to go thru the bad experience to find out :(

I almost bought a set myself. Then a mint set of used Crane 1.6 rollers became availiable for $200 w/ shafts so I bought them. I'm sorry to hear you had a problem but I guess the old saying applies:

You get what you pay for.

As for the ticking. Did you drive the car after re-installing the stock rockers? You may have had a lifter bleed down and it might pump back up after a road test.

No I didn't drive it. I was too afraid somthing bad would happen. Do you think I should take her around the block a few times then see if it's still there?

Do you have the notches on the ends of the shafts pointing the right way? Are all the rockers on the same valve that they came off of before you changed? I'm with you, I hate that ticking noise. Good luck. Ray

I'm not sure, I didn't know there was a way they needed to be pointed. How do they need to go? A friend said it sounded like the lifter just needed primed up. I don't know. :x

This is what it says in the Larry Shepard book:
"Note the notch on end of hydraulic rocker shaft. It should be pointing to the centerline of the engine and toward the front of the engine on the left bank and to the rear on the right bank."

It also has a tightening sequence for the hold down bolts, 3-1-5-2-4.

I think I'll pass on the proforms and buy the Probe rollers.

that may be the problem. I have the holes in the shafts facing up, Perhaps I should turn them downward.

How crazy is that! Flipped the shafts over (holes down) no more ticking. That's crazy, wonder why putting the holes down prevents the ticking sound. Anyway, thanks for your help guys!!!!!!!!!!!! :salut:

Racer Brown will have his own American Made Rocker arms in a few weeks.....

Nice Product! I've got one sitting on my desk and in my opinion there as good or better than any other Aluminum arm on the market.

Smith Bros. Adjusters, Teflon spacers....good looking stuff.
