Replace 273 with 318 poly and mechanical lifts

The Poly 318 doesn't look like the 273 right? Different valve covers, bigger engine, different intake manifold, etc....
The 318 Poly was made until 1966 here in the states. After that, the LA engine was only produced. The LA engine series displacements were 273, 318, 340, 360. Outside diamentions are the same, minus exhaust manifolds and carb height and air cleaner style height.

The only thing to watch for is the 340 & 360 engine side boss' for the motor mounts. The 340 & 360 are slightly narrower than the 273/318. This is not a problem. You can use washers to take up the space.

The 727 will use a little bit more power to operate than the 904. The 727 is a little longer than the 904. That means you'll have to cut the driveshaft or get a new one made.
