Any one using Amsoil Universal ATF trans fluid?
I talked to a drag racer / motor & trans shop guy who recommends it highly. He runs a couple cars that run in the low 8’s, and said when he switched to Amsoil a couple years ago, the fluid lasts all season and looks like it did the first day he poured it in. Also there is the benefit of less heat, which is always a plus.

I then asked another trans builder his thoughts on synthetics in general, and he said the following; I don’t like them, they are to slippery and have softer shifts.

Anyone have any info would be greatly appreciated!

The only experience i have with them is that we run it in our fleet trucks. I have not seen an increase in longevity on the trannys. All seem to last about as many miles as the regular fluid.

Was the drag racer an Amsoil dealer?

If you actually drive the car, what happens when you need to top up the tranny in a small town on a Sunday?

You do know that Mopar ATF+4 is a high performance synthetic and available at Wal Mart.

I've used Amsoil in my 904 since I first built it. Even with a trans brake and no cooler the fluid lasts for years. Regular mineral oil based ATF lasts about 15 passes. The bonus is you get a couple hundred extra stall RPM's with the Amsoil too. If I had the money it would be in my truck right now too. But it will have to wait a bit.
