72 duster Build progress
!!!!UPDATE!!!!
Ok everyone.....I havnt updated you guys in about a week because I have been very busy chasing down parts , I have been busy making vinyl stickers for people, working on the duster, spending time with family and my fathers B-Day was yesterday.
anyways....I have been making progress!.
Got my TCI stall converter ordered and it will be here monday.
Got my new alternator and got it all mocked up in place.
Got my new manual brake pushrod and installed it.
Got my new master cylinder and installed it.
Picked up a brand new radiator and installed it.
I made alot of measurements and looked over a family members duster and dart real well to see what exactly I would need to look for in a radiator ( I am running the old style water pump which has the inlet on the drivers side rather than the passenger.....and since I needed a radiator anyhow I figured I would get a radiator that would work for my setup rather than buy a new pump and pulleys and still have to get a factory radiator.
anyhow....I ended up going to my local junk yard and my dad knows the owner and he had a room upstairs that he kept TONS of brand spanking new classic car radiators in and it jsut so happens that he had the exact set up I needed and only charged me $85.00 for it.
It was out of a Chrysler Cordoba I believe he told me (not sure of exact year) but it was a v8 radiator and it was the HD radiator aswell ...(he pulled out his parts book and told me all the specs on it.
anyways its a PERFECT fit besides the fact I had to drill my own mounting holes in the core support and I got the hole saw out and cut a hole in the bottom of the core support so I could drop the pet **** through for easy access for draining.....but it looks very clean and is not "boogered" in and looks factory and should keep my v8 plenty cool! IM STOKED!
Picked my alternator up and got it mocked into place with belt and all so I could see how everything would line up and all looks good.
Got the passenger side header in .....had to do a little clearance work where the header was to close for comfort at the torsion bar but it came out very clean.....(driver side I have yet to do).
Ordered a brake pushrod from ebay with a master for about$12.00!!!
Installed the rod and went and bought another new master cylinder for the heck of it since there only $25.00 for a new remaned one.... (i was told that the 73 power disc brake master cylinders worked best for a manual brake set up due to the difference in the size of the chambers? ....so thats what I got.
I am still working hard at it and will get everyone more progress updates as i go....I will post pictures of what I have done so far in a minute.
