1965 904 Trans cable question

I have a 65 Barracuda 904 ball and trunion style trans with two shifter cables. Will these come out from the outside of the trans or am I going to have to rip the trans apart to get them out? I've only tried to get the front one out so far with not much luck. I shined a small flashlight in the hole that the cable goes into but I can't really see how it's attached. I haven't even tried on the rear cable yet.
