Does anyone know if there is a difference between the Mancini XHD springs and the Mopar Performance XHD Springs (P4510268/9) that you can get at Jegs or Summit? The Mopar Performance ones are about twice as expensive and I had read some threads about the Mancini being different left/right because of launching. This car will rarely see track time, I'm just trying to get a nice cruiser with a tight but not too rough ride.

If these are the same, obviously I'd get the Mancini ones, but I don't want my car set up for drag racing when I'm just going to be cruising.

Follow up question: I'm thinking of just doing all new suspension while I'm at it. I was thinking KYB Gas-A-Just all around, 1" torsion bars from Just-Suspension, and XHD springs, does that sound pretty good for a cruiser? Would Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks be better in the rear in case I need to haul stuff on a road trip or would I notice much difference? I still need to measure the bars on there now and see what shocks I have to make sure they aren't better than I think, but it feels pretty soggy in the turns.

Edit: I just measured and the fronts are .875" or so torsion bars (whatever size is closest to that). I think I'll want to upgrade those for a nicer feel in the front at the least.

Sounds like you are on the right track. Don't know if you will see much difference between shock brands.

Funny thing about XHD springs…… They do not all give the same ride height. Hopefully some people with brand experience will post.

I went with the ESPO 6 leaf +1 springs on my Duster. 1 inch over stock. They were $380 shipped. The ride is perfect considering I had the dreaded air shock bouncing and banging before. They have been in just under 2 weeks. I expect them to settle a 1/2' or so more. This pic is with my 225-70-14 driver tires. My 255-60-15 track tires fit in perfect as well.

I had MP XHD springs on my 68 Coronet and they were flat in 2 years...

I have the Mancini springs on my Demon. Sales rep told me they were de-arched SS springs. The car does sit higher on passenger side with the Mancini springs. To compensate for the difference I cranked the driver side torsion bar higher to level vehicle. I have not driven the car yet so I can't tell you what the rided or handling is like. I also have the Mopar .920" diameter torsion bars and KYB shocks all around. I flipped the front spring hangers to lower the ride hieght. For reference the rear tires are 255/60-15 fronts are 225/60-15.

just suspension bars are nice and i would go with espo springs myself.. http://springsnthings.com/ web site has changed some. i would call them. i called in the morning and had to get back to them. when i called back 6 hours later they knew exactly who i was and exactly what i was asking about. ordered the stuff and it was here in a couple days. we got +1" springs and a front end kit for jamies car.

I have mancini xhd springs on my 69 street/strip dart really like them slight rake with 6 cyl tosion bars,Kevin.

So from what I gather, KYB shocks and the 1" bars from Just-Suspension are the way to go. I will call ESPO and get a quote on the springs. Seems like 380 is a lot compared to 215 plus shipping for the Mancini springs, can anyone vouch that it's worth the extra cash? Do the ESPO's sit higher on the passenger side too? And what's with the flipping the front mount trick people have been talking about?

Move the right front spring hanger (passenger side) to the left side (driver side) and flip it over and vice versa. You will need to elongate the holes in the frame so the hanger bolts line up correctly. Not difficult, maybe a 4 to 5 hour job. This will lower the vehicle about 1 to 1.5 inches. If you want you can add re-enforcing plates (Mancini sells them) to the front spring hanger.

Espo springs sit even, they have equal leafs on both sides. Flipping the front spring hanger lowers the ride height about an inch. Espo has stock height and +1 or more. Stock height springs are less $$.

I have a set of factory xhd springs on my duster, car sits nice and at the track hooks up...

Nice look there 72, are those the Mopar Performance XHD springs? If so how long have you had them, where'd you get them, how much have they settled over time?

I have the Mancini springs on my duster. i hate them car sat way to high. had to put lower blocks in. also agree had to crank up driver side torsion bar to level of car. i am thinking of putting back in my stock 340 springs.

Thanks for all of the help guys. It sounds like the way to go is ESPO, KYB shocks, 1" bars in the front. Right now I think the front may be original shocks still from when it was a 225, and the bars are .870 is my best guess, could be .830's though, I think that would be stock /6 size. Out back it has Monroe Air-Max (seems like a truck/hauler shock to me...) and not sure what the leafs are but they are 4 leaf. Should I save 400 bucks and just beef up the front or do the whole thing?

By the way, if anyone reading this is looking for a quote from ESPO, I talked to them today, here's what they charge:

5-leaf $165/pr; 1" over $195/pr; 2" over $205/pr
6-leaf $225/pr; 1" over $255/pr; 2" over $265/pr

To my knowledge, all or most of the springs are made by JR Springs company.
Dont spend the big bucks for the Mopar Performance springs. There selling you the same springs ESPO is selling you.

My favorite springs of all time, was a set of stock replacement springs from JC Whitney.
(They had JR painted on them).Something like $125.00 shipped to my door. JC Whitney discontinued selling them last I checked.

The Mopar Super Stock springs are still reasonable for some reason.
And old trick to do is if you dont like the stink bug look, buy to left side springs. Car sits nice and level.

I went with JC Whitney springs and mine were actually dropped shipped from JR and I also had the springs about a day after I ordered because I'm not far from JR Springs. I've read that is the same company that makes Mancini Springs and really when I ordered from JC Whitney I was just hoping to get something decent and was estatic when I saw that they came directly from JR Springs.

I think I got mine for under $100 because I bought them during a special when they had free shipping for anything over $75 too. Actually, finally had them installed after years and they are a billion times better than the stock springs but those were 40+ year old dearched spings.
