Wiper Motor

My wiper motor does not seem to be working. I can turn the wipers on and then apply some pressure to the opposite direction that the wiper arm on the motor spins and the motor starts to work. If i change the speeds or turn the wipers off, the wipers won't tun back on. Is my wiper motor shot?
