Spool vs SG

Thought about starting a thread for a question i had similar to this but i think its more appropriate here.

experience with just not spending any money and welding up spider gears??? ive never done it and never seen it or driven a car with it?

obviously its not the best option but is it less risky than a spool due to maybe the spiders that are welded to explode before axle damage is done?

i wouldn't do the lincoln locker, I did it once on a stock 318/904 trans with shift kit and I shot the spiders out the rear of the housing,,, ya might get lucky but not really worth the risk. Just my 2 cents
