depending on how far you want to go and the miles that are on it, you could replace the timing chain and have a basic valve job done. but if you want it to be mean , then you will want to have the head shaved to boost compression and have bigger valves , heavier spring installed as you will most likely go for a bigger camshaft. i personally am going with a super six setup (2bbl.) and hoping to get a set of dutra duals (instead of headers) you will find alot of good info at the slant six forum on this site.
