BIG wheelhop! Please critique my launch
well the guys who work the counter at my local parts stores are quite the "tool" but i'll see if they know what im talking about..i guess i can just ask them for spring clamps (is that what they are packaged as?) and hope for the best...how many clamps per side do you recommend i start with?
Yeah i'll agree they can be tools lol, just go over to the spring kit section for trucks, they will have lift blocks, hangers, add a leaf, **** like that, then look for the "spring clamp kit", it'll have 2 complete clamps in it with nuts/lock washers (its a U bolt style), they will be in a package so you can see them, it won't be a box, i would start off with 2 packages, 4 clamps, i hacked off some of the threads on 2 of the U bolts so it was easier to tighten down with a socket, not really need if you have a 3/4" wrench, Now this isn't a fix, installing clamps is just a "band-aid" really & no garuantee it'll work good, but if it works or helps, if you don't already have them, i would install that flat plate steel like i mentioned above the springs & clamp it all down, this will help any flexing behind the front eye where theres only the 1 spring, try & get 1 of the clamps as close to the eye as possible but still clamping on the 2nd. spring., then put the other about the "mid" point between the spring purch & eye, so 2 on each side, i would still currect the pinion angle also, thats very important.
As i looked at your video a few more times, it does seem (like others have said) the springs are too weak & can't support the abrupt hit from the clutch, but WTH, try this out & see if it'll help, you never know 8)
