You got to move perches and have the tubes cut down. However, if you went that route I would also install the mopar relocation spring kit. I mean you already have to move the perches anyway install that kit as well and you can fit bigger tires on later with mini tub.

Hey nothing wrong with GM, as long as it's American is ok in my book. Though I do own an 02 GTR but thats different and a long story.

Amen brother. they all made cool cars, but none as cool as Mopars. i don't hold grudges. In fact, I'm workin on a '70 LS5 chevelle for a friend right now.

Look on the side of the case at the bottom (if it was mounted in the car it would be on the driver's side) the numbers should be 741 or 742. However the owner could've changed it to a 489 at so point.

StrokerScamp I love the body style of the 70 to 72 Chevelle.

whats involved in cuttin tubes? is that why when i see some cars with like danas or something the wheels kinda stick out a bit? idk but it looks kinda badass to me lol

All A-body 8 3/4 are 51.4" flange to flange and 43.0" centering pin to centering pin on the perch.

1962-1970 B-body 8 3/4 are 55.0" flange to flange and 44.0" perch to perch.

71-74 B-body 8 3/4 are 57.8" flange to flange and 47.3 perch to perch.

All E-body 56.5 fange to flange and 46.0" perch to perch.

C-body? I am not sure I do know that they are bigger even yet.

I have put a b-body rear in a Dart and Duster. I have just put an ebody 8 3/4 in my 74 Duster. Relocating the spring perches is necessary to install these rears. No axle tube cutting is required. Of course the right offset wheel is needed.

Turbodart68 is right you can just get wheel with different offset to fit (I forgot about that). Though the only thing is you might have to get custom made wheels to fit (and look right) sometimes.

sorry guys im a young gun and i HATE big diameter wheels or custom wheels, ill do keystones, cragars ss, centerlines, draglites, or i kinda hate t thrusts unless theyre gray..... so if none of them fit im cuttin tubes...

yes and yes again....lol i have a '68 b-body housing in my 68 a-body barracuda. All i did was move the spring perches inboard 1/2" each side to be correct for the a-body mounting provisions...from center hole to center hole in the spring pads on an a-body is 43 inches. The b-body is 44 inches...and the term "posi" is a chevy word...the "correct mopar" term to use is "sure grip" :)

good one skippy. Lol

a ford 8" out of a maverick or granada bolts right in. Some have limited slip and are 5x4.5. Just an option since 8-3/4 housings in a/b/e forms have gone up, at least in my area.
did he say ford in a mopar?8)

i think im getting one for free out of a 67 coronet what would that case be?
i got one from a old coronet also. Had it cut down ,got some truck axels, had those cut also. I did the spring relocate and mini tub too. If you're going to do all of this with the rear, why not.
