  • Merry Christmas to you! I haven't spent much time with the Duster, but the new carburetor at least gets it to start :) Next week will be time to mess with tuning!!
Not sure how I missed this message. Sorry for the late reply.

I haven't messed with it at all yet and I took it back to the shop this past weekend. The shop has a customer that may be interested in buying my motor and then they'd build me one that is more of a stock motor. Since the stock motor should be cheaper to build than what I got built, I'm hoping that evolution, if it occurs, will be essentially at no cost to me. That's a hope, anyway.

If the motor does get swapped, that won't happen until next year sometime, so I will have some time to play with it before that happens. I've been looking at timing threads and had no idea you could adjust mechanical and vacuum timing, so that'll be something new for me to learn! :)

The shop did send me a message recently that said he swapped the carburetor and it started right up, so at the very least, I will be able to drive it reliably until we get the motor tuning/new motor situation figured out.

    Thanks for your help!

The next time you see your car check to see if it has torque boxes just in front of the front leaf mount. If it doesn't there is a good chance someone took all the 67 383 stuff and installed it on the 69 shell. Also check the idler arm and how it's attached to the k-frame. 67's used a tapered stud like a ball joint and a 69 was a bolt thru arrangement.
Great, see you there. NukeBass will be there with his Duster and we would like your input on some issues he has. Don't know if you followed his thread. We'll see you tomorrow.

Hi Tommy, Good to hear from you and yes, all is well. Been up north visiting family and tying up the last loose ends after our move. Have very limited opportunity up there for internet, so have been "dis-connected." Back in Va. for a few days and then back to NC. Should be on more now. How are you doing and how's the Cuda?

Hi Jim, Great to hear from you. Hopefully all will go well with the house and you will be finished there. I'm sorry about your wife's job. I'm sure she will find something soon. You may check Greensboro or Winston Salem area. That may be not the chosen area, but there are alot of homes around and there are several hospitals also. It wouldn't hurt to check anyway. Thats about 1 1/2 hours from where you will be living so it's not bad. Just pray about it, it will all work out.
Sounds as though you will be busy when Rockingham comes up but there is another Mopar drag show and swap meet at Farmington Dragway the 1st of May. Maybe you will be able to catch that one.
Be safe and remember we will be praying for all to go well. Talk to you soon.

It's an original New Mexico car so is rust free. 74 318, auto, air, cruise. Original paint, updated rally wheels and new TA's. Has typical dings and chips but car is awesome for its' age. I'll get some pics up as soon as I can, or I can email them. I am in the Rochester, NY area.

Won best of show at a local small cruise in because it is such a nice survivor shortly after I got it.
