Is 20W-50 too heavy for my 340?

I have some 20W-50 VR1 “High Zinc” in my shop and am planning an oil change. Is this too heavy? Information: Flat tappet 340 High compression 12:1? Older engine oil pressure was on the lower side if I recall correctly maybe 30 psi but don’t recall what oil was used. Lives in Phoenix and it’s...

Making a car difficult to steal

I worked at an insurance salvage pool, all totaled cars. As noted above there isn’t any car in any condition that can’t be towed. A hidden Fuel/ignition shutoff, an airtag to stop joyriders and good insurance. Think of the fun you’ll have building the next car.

[FOR SALE] OEM Mopar 11 3/4" Flex Plate W/Bolts

This is a OEM Mopar 11 3/4" Flex Plate W/Bolts. It came out of a 1967 GTX with a 440hp engine, but will work in any big block with the 11 3/4" torque converter. It is original, not a china knockoff, and is in good condition. Just needs a cleanup. The 10 original bolts are also included...

I Need Engine Experts! 340 Roller Lifter and Pushrod Issue

First things first, go to b3racingengines.com and get ahold of Mike and have him hook you up with a kit to correct the geometry. Then you need to relieve the heads where the pushrod passes through. Even a 5/16 pushrod will hit with hydraulic rollers.

I've taken to doing my car audio wiring with computer HDD power 4 pin plugs and sockets. Almost free and makes things real easy.

    power steering bracket mounting holes

Just install appropriate-length bolts and it will be fine. You can washer-up a too long bolt but the next guy, if you ever sell it, may not know why they are there. Use any measuring rod to find the water jacket, and then stay away from it, lol.

Music is a pretty big deal.

Yep, I also like the lighting choices. It was also pretty cool that the new unit has all the exact same connections. Just slide the old one out and the new one in. No redoing any wiring.

I have a couple of similar Pioneer units and I really like them. I also picked up a really cheap JVC I think it is unit that has USB, Bluetooth, and 1/4 plug inputs. Thing is amazing for 40 bucks! Has decent power output and tuneability. It is currently in my 97 Thunderbird, connected to the...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

Interesting Chrysler 1964-65 doomsday device, a DOHC 426 hemi. Never produced, never run under it's own power. As soon as NASCAR heard about it, all overhead cam V8's were banned in 1966. After the ban, this engine was no longer needed.

Timing Chain Cover crankshaft opening is the wrong size

You can put your own TDC mark on the balancer or the cover, anywhere that is convenient, which makes matching any of these parts a non issue. You can even use the 273 style removable timing tab, if it fits. Then you can either use a dial-back lite, or install a timing tape, or just mark off...

    Gen3 hemi tkx swap

I was wondering how that was going with the bell. SST or American power train does not make a stepped pilot? Doesn't take much to make it but? A bit of extra space there for the hydro throw out too. A shallower bell would be nicer but glad it's working. What gear ratio and tire size you...

[FOR SALE] OEM Mopar Throttle Return Spring Bracket

This is a OEM Mopar Throttle Return Spring Bracket. It came off of a 1961 Plymouth with the inline dual quad 383/343HP engine. I believe this was the original bracket to the manifold, but I'm not positive. It has two holes for two springs, so it should work with many different inline carb...

Music is a pretty big deal.

These are the ones I have- Circa 2010 5300-6500. Very similar. I have four of them. They all have the exact same interface. Most were about $50. A side bonus is the adjustable lighting gets real close to factory blue/green dash lights and orange gauge needles.

Some dyno testing you guys may want to follow on YouTube

I asked him on Facebook why the big drop off of horsepower from 5800-6000 rpm. I swear I honestly hit higher than that in Moms Malibu merging onto an expressway. I think we all know by now the cnc Speedmaster head is not a good program. An engineer must have programmed it.
