New Mancini Timing Cover Fitment Issue

This whole timing cover fits a 360 along with 273/318/340 is all new to me. Maybe they assume you just put a thick bead of RTV in there and throw the end gaskets away? Or maybe we should feel lucky a new part is available in the first place?

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

this is a hold over from the old CARB laws that began in the 90's when the first round of "smog check" included vehicles from 1968 (i got failed in 1996 for not having a breather that connected to the aircleaner). if you look thru the catalog (or edelbrock's) you'll see "50 state legal"...

    2.76 vs 2.94 gearing

I imagine you 273 powerband is fairly flat, so even with less rpm per mph you'll have similar hp available to you at the same general road speeds.

I just use the hose with the nozzle set on jet, mower running full throttle, squirt water where the engine meets the deck-cooling slots(?) and then aim it underneath front to back. usually get squirted once in awhile. need to clean it because when it sits in the garage and I go in there to putz...

Looking at purchasing a "portable garage" (aka, tent) for temp storage. Any recommendations?

They are shitty. Tons of them around here with the tarps destroyed and the metal frame standing. If they don't cave in, the sun destroys them.

Installing the console back into my 66 Barracuda, I broke the automatic shifter pawl. This is the wire inside the shifter that is depressed to change gears. See pictures Is that a replaceable part? How hard is it to replace? Looking around, I have not found that part for sale. Help and...

I had the one from harbor freight for 5 or 6 years before 60mph winds took it out. Never let snow sit on it in the winter time so that might've helped things. https://www.harborfreight.com/10-ft-x-17-ft-portable-car-canopy-62860.html

...it's been discussed here on this board and disproved. to think that CARB is running some type of surveillance state on classics is edging toward tinfoil territory. we make up *maybe* 1% of the cars on the road in california. they care wayyyy more about big trucks and diesel than anything else.

Very little snow here at 115° in the summer (I've seen 123° on the back porch, in the shade). Heating the garage is not a problem. The sun seems to kill them first. And I've still got a fallen tree here to take care of too (16" trunk). Thankfully it didn't fall on the house, or our boundary fence.

    Rear end

The mustang rear could probably be used, as is. The explorer rear uses a long axle and a short one, and needs to be narrowed (probably cheaper than a mustang). You don't mess with flanges, you take a section out of thelong axle side, and use another short axle. You would probably have to...

I'm clearing some trees and brush in the woods behind the shed/shop especially for this (no pics of this yet), and I've been out there when it's "pretty damn windy", and due to the surrounding trees and such, I'm pretty confident the wind won't be an issue. Now of course if one of those old...
