My memory (??) is 55 ft. lbs for the A body 7/16 inch studs and 70 ft. lbs for the B body (and late A body) 1/2 inch studs. I probably should look that up. Will check back after supper if that's wrong.

Hi guys, I'm in the middle of lots of maintenance items on my Barracuda, one of which is addressing the 2-3 shift overlap clunk. e built this tranny (727) several years ago (2015) and it's still running strong but has the nasty 2-3 overlap clunk only when under very light throttle conditions...

Just needs the sidecover put on and topped off with oil. Praying for no leaks...

Sounds silly, but have you lubricated the linkage and checked the fluid level in the transmission? Also, after all these years- there is going to be a bit of play. Too much and shifting is tough. Also, check clutch adjustment - if the input shaft is still spinning it can cause shifting issues...

I don't really see how a 340 could rev any faster at all than a 383 as there was only a .065" difference in stroke. Plenty of people seem to think that, though.

I can tell most of you never drove a tuned 68 4spd Roadrunner or a 383 A- body with the exhaust opened up with headers. Such simple things as adding the 440 AVS and super tuning the 383 made a huge difference.
