Should I be feeling more power?

The first thing I would do is get rid of one of the fuel pumps. Mech pumps are not designed to pull fuel through another pump. I would keep the elec pump & bypass the mech pump. There is no reason to have two pumps for the HP level of this engine.

    1984 Ram Crank No Start

I've done that on every car I've owned, this truck is new to me a few months ago. I'm doing some of the wiring over, installed both a ground and positive hub today, as well as a bigger ground cable, separate ground wires for ECU, starter relay, a ground wire all the way to the rear taillights...

    KA-thunk

The 3 speed original tranny on the '60 Val winds up pretty high between 1 and 2, 2 and 3, and sort of slams into gear with a ka-thunk. I lessen this by letting off the gas at a lower rate of speed and pausing until the transmission finds the next higher gear, with less noise and jarring. I...

    1960 Valiant Restore: advice welcomed.

She has been sitting in the shop for six weeks now, but so far Jim got the speedometer cable, and it's gear, replaced, NOS speedometer installed, oil sending unit replaced, fuel gauge working. The big issue was the fuel tank. Jim predicated that after 60 years it would have significant...

How many of you grease your own trailer axles?

Works on semis with the 10s of thousands of miles they put on in a year. We had a couple that both drove their Freightshaker, 100k in 4 months. There was a few others that were similar.

That is up to him. I have generally pretty good patience. If he does apply what he can learn here, he should end up with a lot of mechanical knowledge and a car that runs well.

The other thing not mentioned in this thread is that some high performance and almost all race engines at a simi pro and pro level are having pistons custom made to their design specs. Which is about 500 give or take per piston. Don’t forget rods, cams, and everything else. So comparing a racing...

That is the cost of the pistons and rings through Summit. Remember we get hosed for the $ exchange at 1.4 these days and our prime peckerhead spashing money around to appear as a world savior is only getting us deeper in debt which eventually sink our $ more. I already have most of the stuff for...

2024 15th Annual FABO NASCAR "Pick 'Em" Game - One More Time!!!
