    Tire fitment 68 Dart

With big bolt pattern spindles I run a 15x6 with 205 70 tire 4.5 back space (didn’t like that widened track width) and a rear 255 60 15 tire, when I got the car it had 15x7 with 4 in bs 225 60 15. I installed 235 60 15s it will fit but it’s tight. To be honest I wouldn’t run a 60 series tire up...

Yeah with a timing light, the total I believe was set at 2600-2800 Rpms I have to find the curve specs, had it on a paper they gave me when I got the distributor recurved. I know it has a stock medium spring and a super light mr. Gasket spring. Some combo like this

Guess this Lift and Duration n this mystery Camshaft!!!

I know it is a Mopar purple camshaft that’s all the info I have, I had a picture of the part number when I pulled the motor apart to put a new timing chain on it, let me see if I can find it. The engine came out of a challenger, date code is 68 so probably was swapped in some time ago.

Guess this Lift and Duration n this mystery Camshaft!!!

That’s the most the motor will take and like I got the mechanical at set at 10 degrees inside the distributor and initial at 18 degrees.

    1968 340 push rod issue

Hey guys working on my buddy’s 340 dart he just got, pretty much stock 68 340 compression heads valve train, etc only thing done on the rebuild is they used a size bigger Mopar purple camshaft (as were told) Issue is that I believe the push rods might be too long, why I think this is because...

    2 barrel to 4 barrel

i would swap the camshaft, the intake, carb and a new double roller timing chain set at the same time. Your adding more fuel and air but your camshaft can’t benefit from the upgrades truly with that stock camshaft. Trust me you’ll want more............

What is the horse power benefits

Well they all have roller camshafts, true 9:1 compression, better rings, better heads, don’t leak water out of the exhaust manifold bolt jackets, seal better on intakes, valve covers. The 5.2 camshaft is a better decent RV grind as well

    2.76 vs 2.94 gearing

Your car will be super slow, and you will have your foot down on the pedal getting it to move of the line I wouldn’t run 2.76 unless you were driving highway only.

What is the horse power benefits

I wouldn’t start any small block build without a 5.9 magnum core
  28. Slantsix64

    My 340 getting 6 mpg

I’m thinking its two things it’s your timing you need more initial 15 initial and 14-16 mechanical And carb double pumper equals 2 accelerator pumps which drinks gas. Also 67 jets that’s way too small I would think your engine would want 70s I have a 68 340 10.5 compression also similar cam to...

    Cheap 318 performance mods.

I would sell that motor and and drop in a magnum 5.2 from the junkyard better cam better heads better compression and roller camshaft and put a cheap rpm air gap and summit headers 600 cfm carb. Think of it this way everything you’re going to be doing has already been done to a stock 5.2...
