Finally getting on a job that I had on my winter list. And didn’t get to

If you are feeling overwhelmed with too many things to get done, you can send that blue Duster my way. Just kidding, of course. Good plan to work on the stuff you already have laying around. Get that stuff done and find them a new home.

70 dart 470 ci drag car build.

It is easier for me to put the inner race in first, then place the rollers, then pinch the springs with your fingers and slide them down into place. No fighting the whole mess at one time. Keep up the good work. I am enjoying the build and looking forward to the track results.

I bought a Summit Racing Crankshaft

I was looking at these recently and wondering if they were any good. Can you tell us which part number you ordered? Also, post a couple more pictures showing the entire crankshaft and then a closeup of that rod journal in the first picture. Is that an undercut journal?

    accessory holes B1Ba heads

The coolant passage from the head deck surface is right next to that accessory bolt boss area and it is not as thick there, but you should not be drilling there. Here is a picture with my caliper pointing to the thinner area. It is thinner inside the coolant passage here, not just thinner on the...

    accessory holes B1Ba heads

In the spot your circle is drawn there is 1.4” depth to the intake coolant passage behind it. The intake manifold bolt blind hole is drilled about 1” depth, so it intersects that area just under your circle. Here is a picture with a mark showing where the bolt hole should end up intersecting...

Got my new toy home yesterday.

That is going to be one kick *** bracket truck. I hope we get some in-car video of a pass after you get it running so we can hear that small block sing.

Got my new toy home yesterday.

Dakotas make good looking race trucks for sure. Was this an old Pro Stock Truck class truck or a purpose built bracket truck? Any more pictures of it? I looked it up and this truck was not in the Pro Stock Truck thread from a while back. Pro Stock Truck. Man I loved that class

Here at the US131 opening day test and tune

I have never been to this track yet but it is on my list of things to do this year as a spectator. Good to see you made it out, even if you are not running your car.

    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

I just noticed Summit is showing five of these 61729 Edelbrock Victor small block heads in stock again right now on 4/5/2024. I can only dream about them, so somebody needs to hurry up and buy these.

    A518 46RH rebuild

Can you fill in some details to finish off this thread? What exactly is this truck? Rear axle ratio? Rear tire size? Glad it worked out. It will be so much nicer to cruise in overdrive.

Holy cow, it looks like it will work. Very cool.

    A518 46RH rebuild

The main problem I think you'll have trying to run the old style 727 mount and crossmember is that I "think" the whole setup will raise the rear of the transmission too high, throwing off driveline angles. You may end up needing to cut the center out and fabricate a new flatter center like one...

    A518 46RH rebuild

Here is the 727 trans mount setup from my 89 Ramcharger. There is a u-shaped bracket bolted to the trans. There is a large shaped adapter bracket on the bottom that matches the crossmember. And sandwiched in between is the actual rear trans mount with rubber insulator. Now here is the...

    A518 46RH rebuild

That graphic does not tell the whole story about the mount position. The 46RH and 46RE have a different pattern. You have the old style 727 904 mount. Have you tried to attach it to your 46RH trans yet? In your original post you showed the trans upside down. In that picture you can see two bolt...

    A518 46RH rebuild

Here is how the Ramcharger started out originally, except engine and trans are already out. Notice how the crossmember is kind of wide and flat at the center.

    A518 46RH rebuild

Here they are comparing side by side. The 89 Ramcharger trans crossmember with 727 on the left and the 92 D250 with 46RH on the right. The 92 D250 did not use the large heat shield bolted to the crossmember either. I believe the 89 Ramcharger crossmember will accept the 46RE or 46RH...

    A518 46RH rebuild

There are are still details I am sorting out but I wanted the overdrive as well. Quick searches for replacement trans mounts did not make it totally clear if my old trans crossmember would work with an overdrive, but I now think it will. The older ones are clearly not going to work because they...

Short to ground in my alternator?

I think you are testing wrong. Reconnect everything and test for voltage on a complete circuit. Your tests are not showing anything wrong with your alternator.

Short to ground in my alternator?

Can you be more specific on how you are testing, or what you are testing? When you say block, is that referring to the engine block? Are the battery cables connected to the battery or do you have one off?

    A518 46RH rebuild

I am currently working on a similar swap. I am putting either a 46RH or 46RE in place of the original 727 on my 89 Ramcharger. I recently pulled the trans crossmember from a 92 D250 pickup in case I need it. I suggest starting a new thread so we don’t derail this one. I would like to see a...

Do any of the pre magnum roller blocks have the magnum style motor mount provisions cast into the block?

Is there is a specific task you want to accomplish or just wondering about the info itself? The 1991 Dakota 318 appears to be a test run for some of the Magnum features. It had a water pump and serpentine belt drive similar to the Magnums but not the same, as well as the engine mounts @DionR...

Rewiring my EFI Magnum - 1970 Dart Swinger

Interesting on that smaller pulley from the donor truck. That non-AC alternator bracket is a good find. Did you grab the heater tube spacer as well? It supports the heater tube when the AC portion of that bracket is not there.

    318 intake manifold problems

Post a picture of the engine from the front, so we can see what you are working on. A 91 D150 should have had a throttle body injected LA engine if it was a 318. If I recall correctly. So, is that what is on it now?

Rewiring my EFI Magnum - 1970 Dart Swinger

Nice job getting it fired up. Looking forward to more updates. In post three you had a serpentine belt installed but it looks tight at the water pump. If that is still the power steering bracket from the van the belt is probably rubbing, or will when running. Is that car going to get air...
