    There's over 10 grand for the block and topend alone. 26,000 sounds very reasonable to me for 730 hp from carb to pan.

    Fact is, all short stroke engines need to spin to make power. The sweet spot is between 5500- 7000 rpm or higher depending on compression ,cylinder head, intake and camshaft.

    John's addicted to burning race fuel and rubber, with out it he suffers severe depression, headaches and can be very cranky. lol He likes to cook to keep his mind off it, but he can only eat so much. So lets hope the 2024 race season brings the needed therapy.

    Factory pressures where 150- 160. My 383 magnum was 155 @ 3000feet

    Do you have headers? More info would be good. You say the tuning is sorted out and I think that's where most of the problem exists. A stock low compression 440 should tear the hides off and pull until the valves float.
