I really hope it’s not the wiring, it’s the only portion of the loom I didn’t mess with! lol Good idea, I’ll swap injectors. I have one of those thermal thermometers so I’ll grab a reading and see if that tells me anything. I have another set of bigger injectors showing up tomorrow too so I...

Spark on 5 looks fine. I’m going to order one of those cheap injector pulse boxes and try that next.

    '69 Valiant 2DR Project

Yes it does have output testing, I’m going to check spark on #5. I think I can test injectors too but I’ll have to spray it into a bucket or something.

Haha definitely have done that before

Good idea, I’ll try that. I’ll also try swapping coils as another test.

The plug on the left is out of #5, right is #7. If you look at the headers you can definitely see a lack of color on the #5 runner. The plug looked brand new, opposed to its neighbors that were sooty from the rich tune. I’ll double check spark on #5. I have to think of a way to check the fuel...

Water pump gasket is on and the leak is fixed. I don’t think #5 is firing, or maybe it’s only firing sometimes. The header is gold on all other runners except 5 and the engine sounds like it’s galloping a little. I’ll try and get a video of it. The runout on the crank pulley is crazy, I’ll...

In other news, I'm an idiot. I found the water pump gasket on my bench. I guess that explains the leaking water pump...

 Eh, most of it will get burned out when I weld the floor pans back in.

Put coolant in it and let it idle a little bit longer tonight, got it up to 160* and got it down to 850-900 RPM. I think there's a small air leak as I cant get it down any lower than that. Chasing down leaks, passenger side valve cover has a small drip and the water pump housing is leaking too...

Forgot to loop the trans line, sprayed everything down with trans fluid, so that’s fun. Chased down one small oil leak and a couple fuel leaks. All is good now. 75psi oil pressure so looking good on that front too.

    Edelbrock, TrickFlow rocker question

There are four TF specific part numbers for HS rockers. Both 1.5 and 1.6 ratio in both standard LA oiling and magnum pushrod oiling.

    Yes that’s the one.

MegaSquirt (MS3) or Holley HP EFI

First one was DOA (which I hear is quite common), if I had installed it a week later Holley would have charged me for a replacement. Their CAN protocol is proprietary, they really want to lock you into their ecosystem. That’s fine for a lot of people, for most probably, but I like to do weird...

MegaSquirt (MS3) or Holley HP EFI

I have a Terminator X and I'm starting to sour on the whole Holley ecosystem. I would definitely encourage you to really drill down on what and how you want to set up your car before coming to a final decision. If you think you are going to want to run other brand modules over CAN communication...

Magnum Engine with LA head oiling

You just need rockers with the ability to accept pushrod oiling. I bought these, MRE77001-15-712, and they seem to be quality.

Is it ok to copy a W5 head and make it better or are we just mad at Speedmaster

I'm sure it'll hurt a lot of people's feelings, but until someone other than me starts funding my life and my car I'll continue to keep buying the parts that I can afford and that will get the job done, regardless of country of origin.

    Measuring boost back pressure

Check out the S480 clones on eBay too. I’ve been eyeing this one as an upgrade if I ever finish my current build. S400SX4 S480 80mm Billet Wheel T4 Twin Scroll 1.25 A/R Turbo 96/88mm Turbine | eBay

    Low peak oil pressure

Are you using a windage tray? Idk, maybe I’m way off but I’m thinking windage.
  23. DNasty777

    Low peak oil pressure

Yes, the most primary concern is crank windage. If the crank is whipping up the oil, it’ll aerate it and the pump will not be able to pump it.

    Low peak oil pressure

I was able to build up to 50psi on a cheap harbor freight drill, IIRC. It did kill the drill though lol.

    Ignition system questions

I think ARE used to make them as well.

    Ignition system questions

I’m using a custom machined adapter and a Jeep 4L cam sensor for cam position on Holley EFI. I’m not sure if the power grid has the ability, but with just a crank sensor you should be able to run wasted spark.

    318/8 Speed Swap

I called JVX the other day to talk about the conversion kit. The gentleman there said the flexplate comes neutral balance but that they could do any balance that you wanted (ie. LA 360 or Magnum 360) for an additional $80. I forgot to ask about the converter snout adapter, I think there are two...

    SBE Turbo magnum teardown

If you look at the con rod bearings on a stock magnum, the top bearing will show the same wear. With the plenum leaks and stock tuning the magnums detonated all the time and I think that’s what we are seeing in those bearings. The cam bearings delaminate as well.
