    Brake drum selection

Purchased set of 10 X 2 1/2 brake kit based on an 87 Chrysler 5th Avenue. Application is for Mopar 8 3/4 with Moser axles 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern. What are my concerns in selecting a brake drum that will fit properly. The 5th Avenue is finned unit which I do not want so changed my vehicle...

Is this a thrust button and can it be removed?

Contacted Moser regarding axles. Axles will accept the tapered bearing if I decide to take that path. None of this is inexpensive. If I'm spending this kind of money I just want it to be right. This includes the removal or not of the axle shaft thrust spacer. Will let install of green...

Is this a thrust button and can it be removed?

I agree with your statement regarding the E body axles. Had to learn first hand. Really cost me on shipping and the original price of axles.

Is this a thrust button and can it be removed?

    That's an under statement.

Is this a thrust button and can it be removed?

I won't disagree with you. I wanted to keep my old style tapered bearing setup. Was lead down the garden path by Moser to use green bearings. The axles I provided could not be shortened and re-splined. If I have a hint of something going wrong, it's $500 for another set of axles that will...

Is this a thrust button and can it be removed?

I have cone style sure grip. Green bearings are fixed thus if axle too long, will hit thrust spacer. Only way to get it out, that I know of, is to disassemble SG. Don't want to find out after everything installed.

Good reading. How I Do It, Sure Grip Spacer Pin

Is this a thrust button and can it be removed?

What I see does not look like that. To remove pin, does that require disassembly of sure grip?

Is this a thrust button and can it be removed?

Interesting to here and sorry it happened. I cannot draw mine out even with a very strong magnet. Was yours a cone sure grip, disk or open style?

Is this a thrust button and can it be removed?

    The axle diameter was ginormous.

Is this a thrust button and can it be removed?

Hi Jason, Well that was unexpected. Will axles go in without interfering? Just to let you know the axles I got from you; Moser could not use them. No biggie.

Is this a thrust button and can it be removed?

Hi FABO. It's me again. Engine is in. Working on replacement of 7 1/4 with 8 3/4. Have a narrowed housing and axles with green bearings from Moser engineering. Comments came up regarding thrust button or thrust block removal. Research tells me the cone style sure grip, which I have, does...

[WANTED] 10 X 2.5 in rear drum brake assemblies for 8.75 diff.

Thanks for clearing this up. For the longest time it was a big mystery. Now that engine is in; rear end and brakes are at the top of the list. Why are the 10 x 2.5 inch so hard to come by. Would have thought with the switch to rear disk, they would be more available.

Great lifting bracket. Was successful with engine swap without removing hood.
