    273 advise needed

Kanter also has nice pistons. They have slightly higher compression and have coated skirts. I'll find the part number if anyone is interested. These were quite a bit nicer than the Egge's. A friend used them and was very impressed with them.

    Lifter failure

I have a good friend-Ford guy. He's got a real nice 66 Galaxie with a 390. His brother rebuilt the engine a lot of years ago-I thought he knew what he was doing. Anyhow the builder brother told him just to use regular oil in it. Last year at 18,000 miles it was running bad and lifters...

    Lifter failure

Anyone have any insight on what years the lifters started going to hell? I have several older NOS cam and lifter packages, and thinking they would be alright. From the 90's I would guess by the old boxes. What year did the first Mopar Direct Connection program change the name to Mopar Performance?

Intake (heat shield) and metal gaskets?

AMK has them. They are listed as SB Ford intake baffle, part number B-10760, 6 pcs for 3.00. I think these are the right size-1/4 x 3/8 L .44 OD. This is from an older AMK catalog, they might have them listed for the SB Mopar by now.

Alternative fuel pump to Carter Street Super?

Big Block, right? Summit shows the Carter Super Street M6903 for 156.99 to ship on June 17-I would imagine that means 2025. I ordered a hardened oil pump drive from Summit last Feb 2023 and still haven't received it. The Carter Strip pumps are available on Rock Auto for generally 20-30 dollars...

FAIL right out of the package.

I too, prefer old NOS ignition parts. Like Echlin and Niehoff ECU'S in old original boxes. You have to study the pictures to make sure it's an old original part. I've seen quite a few sellers on Ebay selling ECU's as NOS and you can see they've been used-the bolt holes having the gripper star...

Small block headers: worst to best fitting. List your experience.

They fit fine, but the mother fuckers hung down so low-they were smashed up within the first couple weeks. And I had as tall of 15" tires that would fit and had the front end cranked up a respectable amount.

Any lube that would stop front suspension squeaking?

You have to look for it or maybe special order it. Usually when I see some, I'll buy 5 or 6 cans.

Is it a roller cam block?

Any lube that would stop front suspension squeaking?

Try something called Slick 50 One Lube, the only place I find it is at Ace Hardware stores. It's a real heavy silicone based lube. After you find some you will use it on everything! It's GOOD ****.

    Inserting Axle Into Housing

The passenger should have the axle adjuster if you are not using Green bearings. If no Green bearings, put the driver side axle in first and torque the 5 nuts down. Then install the pass side axle-back the adjuster out if you haven't and then adjust.

Power Disc Brakes not working on hard stop?

You have the 73 up A body booster. The 67-72 Kelsey Hayes 4 piston brakes used the dual diaphragm booster. In 73 they went to single piston caliper and the larger single diaphragm booster. i have several old brake application catalogs and the 67-72 used a different MC than the 73 and up. I...

Best intake manifold and carburetor for a 273

Best intake manifold and carburetor for a 273

I'm going to try a Holley Street Dominator and an electric choke (800 ThermoQuad). I'm good as long as it works ok and makes a lot of noise. On my stock 273-2bbl Dart. Anytime I drive any of my cars that have a Thermoquad, I have to hear it just once!

    360 vs 383

The 440-3.23 B bodiies were top enders in my neck of the woods. These were about the only cars that we would outrun the State Patrol in. In 1970 the county I lived in-the County Sheriff and 3 or 4 Deputies drove 70 Charger R/T's and Coronet R/T's, all with 440 and 3.23 gears. I once heard...
