Well they go to crap sitting outside and especially on grass. I put one of my cars in storage for that reason...years pass by too fast and then ya need floor pans...yard is clear right now of cars.

Like you said it pays the bills...YT is becoming watered down with guys paying the bills... how many 318 builds does one have to look at to realize the results are limited with that engine? one day it wont pay the bills... there are already too many Uncle Tonys out there yacking about cars...

IMO it is Because they are willing to be misinformed...Tony will say things like "I used to love being a mechanic..." I can tell he was never a successful mechanic not proffessionallly...what he was as we all know was a dismantler and used parts seller...taking them apart isn't being a mechanic IMO.

It doesnt natter if the car runs like crap... have you seen any of his builds go down the track? even in 1980 the perfomance would be dismal.

I mean yeah if junk is your thing and that's what makes ya proud strive to be Tony Defeo to each his own right? Tony is was and always will be a parts dismantler that's his forte and expertise...he doesn't bolt anything together to make it run he unbolts parts to sell and ship...

A guy I know says "who gives a ****...?" it applies here I think...

I like to see it this way... if Uncle Tony is the poster boy for the "Mopar community" that doesn't say much now does it...? :)

right now I have a e body pistol grip with a standard Hurst boot, i do also have the factory oval chrome bezel and boot with the factory shifter... I never ran the factory oval I think I may try it I think you are on to something. The square Hurts boot trim sits right beside that metal strap

What do the heads flow (cfm) that would give you something to go on for cam selection.

It happened on my 8 3/4 open rear years ago...the way you describe the noise sounds similar but my noise was very loud resonated through the driveshaft to the 4 speed shifter, I thought it was in the trans at first but I turned my head and the angle of my ear indicated it was coming from behind...

My Year one story goes way back,maybe to the late 90s. I ordered something there and waited and waited and waited...finally called them they said "its on back order". Ok couldnt you have called or something. I ended up waiting till it showed up I don't remember how long but i seem to recall 6...

I believe we will always need machine shops and flow bench head port guys ...guys with dynos to actually measure the gains...just for the guys who are serious about going fast and being competitive.

Personally and in my experience I cant see seeking out 318 parts (302 heads) the natural progression that I went through as a young man is play around with the 318, cam, headers carb exhaust, ran good but want better ... seek out and find a 340-360 ...that is the natural way of things not...

Ill just say the 70s 318 is cheap or free for a reason...:)

I agree deals to be had if you know what you are looking for but in my experience I've had to cough up the funds if its something I specifically want sometimes it can't be avoided. Always looking for deals should be the norm though I think... also knowing the value of things etc. I wouldn't say...

I think "cheap" has to be defined here no? If we are talking effective use of funds put a 360 in it you'd need the heads anyway... :thumbsup:

Most guys "on the cheap" aren't really going that fast are they? Low budget guys always hit a wall at some point. I've been in the arguments with 318 guys it sometimes ends up at "well the 318 is better on gas..." at that point the conversation is over because we are no longer talking...

Nobody cares as long as you don't cite "how much ya got in it" at resale time... :thumbsup: its like Harleys the cheap chinese add ons aren't worth anything at resale...:) now vintage MP race heads that still work ? different story...
