Cost for labor on stroker build?

Don't forget they added about 2 points of cr, stock magnum cr to edit* 10.73:1 . Everything thing else was the same other than displacement and cr. 5.9l 305hp/414tq vs 408 334hp/490tq

Cost for labor on stroker build?

Why are you arguing ? What your saying makes no sense and doesn't help the OP anyways. If that's what your (imaginary?) buddy told you fair enough but it's obviously bullshit and even if it wasn't the level of proof you would need to present cause of all your past bullshit would be near...

I really liked his "Performance With Economy" book it's out of print you would have to find it 2nd hand.

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

    ...I'm sure you just add half of overlap to lsa and x 2 for duration. 50/2 = 25 + 105 x 2 = 260 advertised and 4/2 = 2 +105 x 2 = 214 @ 0.050" Edit* just 2 x lsa + overlap = duration guess is easier :) eg.. 2 x 105 + 50 = 260, 2 x 105 + 4 =214. And if you want a split cam both have to add up...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

The question was based on that to run more cr than people are generally willing to run eg 12:1 instead of 10:1 that you would have to run less than ideal timing cause of pump gas. (Wasn’t my assertion) Say for 12:1 ideal timing was 33 degrees how much less than ideal timing would you run (for...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

Really DV formula only helps you pick the LSA of the cam, your supposed to calculate the required LSA pick what you figure is the needed overlap and calculate the duration from those two, not really much of an overall cam formula. His overall point is people generally run too much duration on...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

No that would be his recommended lsa, for street and or race. Say you like comps xe256h cam on 110 for your engine, to DV that choice basically you'd keep the same basic overlap and cut the cam on 105 lsa with that overlap and that would give you your new duration, probably something like a 250...

Cost for labor on stroker build?

What are you doing for top end ? If your using just the 340 top end (heads) you may gain a few hp, but what your mainly doing is lowering the powerband in rpm, eg.. Say your 340 engine likes 3000-6000 rpm a 416 might be 2500-5500 rpm or less.

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

DV makes it clear he's talking about the angle of the lobes ground in, he and some call it LCA most use LSA

318 head porting for the average joe

This is my main argument with you, I like these kind of builds too and learning about them, I like the little engine could with highly modified stock parts etc.. But Most people on here can't build these type of engines and if they could most aren't gonna take the time money for the R&D to...

318 head porting for the average joe

This all started of cause buddy said x heads are for 7000+ rpm 318/340/360 and I disagreed with that, and you took issue that I said 318 heads where only designed with around a 273. I never said 318 head can't be ported or can't be ported to 200-240 cfm and make decent power, What I've said...

318 head porting for the average joe

It's not about staying where your/I'm at, I don't know if you notice but most asking for build advice especially for 318 are generally novist and Super Stock, F.A.S.T, Pro Stock, Sprint Car, Nascar info and mods might be a little above their pay grade while they're trying to figure out which RV...

318 head porting for the average joe

This ain't a pro engine building site, so how a pro would go about a lot of the time has very little bearing on most of the builds on this site, Know your audience. The title of this thread is 318 head porting for the average joe, and most average joe's probably aren't gonna do any porting, but...

318 head porting for the average joe

Nothing wrong with that, obviously if your hp goals aren't high, 200-275hp than stock 318 heads are fine, but at some point if the goal is more power something has to be done with the heads and for most especially people that aren't gonna port your gonna have to move up to some type of...

318 head porting for the average joe

That's nice, is there a point that's relevant to the average dude (with average skills, time, money etc..) building a 318 ?

318 head porting for the average joe

I agree, But A so called 318 port was basically designed for a 273 an engine that's 45 cubes smaller and that head is not really designed to make any real amount of hp with any displacement. Saying that a 273/318 heads aren't too bad if looking to make under 300 hp with moderate cam sizes. The...

Time to start the build up

And like you said main goal is get the car running again, can always go down the more power rabbit hole later.

Time to start the build up

Still should make decent power, aren't people getting 450-475 hp out of ootb eddies with the right parts.

    318LA build

If rebuilding you can make measurements to find out and make any necessary mods to fit whatever cam you want. What you should be finding out what cams are gonna suit your build and if they require you to do mods to run them piston to valve and or retainer clearance etc.. Then you could decide...
