Stop in for a cup of coffee

Just got my 2002 Dodge truck in the garage and the tractor under the hay shed before the hail hit. So far it is on the smaller size but it's ugly outside. Weather guessers say large hail later this afternoon.

    318 Poly Flow Test

Port volume is not the answer all the time. Flow velocity and energy density are more important. These provide cylinder ram filling before the intake valve closes as the piston is rising.

How much would you pay for this 340?

You would if it was .060 over and worn out. I wouldn't touch it without pulling the heads and pan. The pan doesn't bother me. My '70 340 had a truck pan on it when I bought it in the early '90s. It also had a BIG solid cam and W-2's. I did buy it from someone I trusted as well so I didn't feel...

    318 Poly Flow Test

What is the springs installed height. The 1.88" Magnum valves could probably be installed easy enough. For low cost the LS 1.9" intake could also be employed. Get the GM powdered metal guides or bronze. If the installed height is about 1.8" the LS beehive springs, retainers and keepers can be used.

CNC Mill Mark Removal in Intake Port

I believe that is the consensus of most of the resident racers and engine builders that responded here. Got to get the right size and shape. Then do not smooth it out much, if at all.

Stop in for a cup of coffee

Making progress here. Had a church buddy of mine come over today and help me get the doors off of the Cuda and the trunk lid. He had extra time, so he helped me get the windows out of the doors while he was here, which was a total PIA. Hoping I can remember how all this stuff goes back together...

440 power gains/ aluminum head advantages?

I've always suspected the RB block of being a little "Boaty" for it's potential. Even the mighty hemi left power gains on the table. And it's my belief that it's because in a stock and even street type build the deck height is too high for its total cubes. Because of that, the rotating weight is...

    Head question ?

Your story sounds like the guy I got my newly machined head from , actually all it takes is a block off plate on that fitting on the back of the head. Not much difference in chamber design smog vs non. Other difference was that mine was a CL find not fake book My wife is the one with FB not me...

CNC Mill Mark Removal in Intake Port

According to David Vizard, surface finish is not as important as the port shape and efficiency. You need to exercise caution on port volume as a larger volume creates a lazy port flow. Flow rate and the energy areof vital importance to cylinder filling. Habit of a rough surface causes surface...
