QuickTime bell housings are spun, not stamped, steel. That is an important distinction. They are also made in the USA. I agree they’re really expensive, but you do get what you pay for. And you can’t whine about everything being made in China if you won’t spend the money to buy US made parts.
They are J heads... And J heads showed up on 340's starting in 1970... 69 340 = X heads 70 340 = J heads... 70 & 71 340 J heads had 2.02 intakes and 1.60 exhaust same as J heads... Hell T/A's & AAR's had J heads... With relocated pushrod holes...
Truck pan doesn't mean squat, back in the 70's &...
so I was at my favorite anual swap meet today, and I found this pistol grip shifter, it is fairly straight and tall, EXACTLY what I was looking for to put in my hot rodded 56 Dodge truck. It has a shift pattern for a 4x4 so obviously it was a transfer case shifter, but I gotta say, I've been...
I'd suggest finding someone who could use/want the OD and sell/swap to get a standard 833.
It will help your 1st gear issue and with the 3.55's give you the tq multiplication you want in 2 thru 4 vs the 2.92.
Thank you. You guys are right about keeping it simple. I was enjoying the car so much that it took me 8 months to get parts and swap an 8 3/4 and front disc conversion/ well actually the car was only on stands for a month for me to do the work. I just kept delaying because the slant was so...
It’s a wide-ratio trans, the opposite of a performance transmission. The slant can’t turn enough rpm, or make enough torque to recover from the 1-2 drop.
Fred had the A out for a ride today. Little problem with the battery, but once that was cleared up, thing ran like a top. Me and the war department drove 6 miles to a spot on the Brokenhead river and had a picnic. Awesome day if you know what I mean.
You can also get them from @BergmanAutoCraft, these are the rears but he has the fronts as well
Bilstein Shocks - Mopar - A Body Rear - Bergman Auto Craft
As for why Bilstein doesn’t list them, it’s because they’re not just Bilstein shocks. They are RCD Bilsteins, which is to say they are...
If your referring to performance Plus products , don't waste your time unless they got they're quality control worked out. Casting shifts too much. Last 1 I bought wouldn't bolt up. Flange angle was way,,,,,,,,off.
Rear tires are 205/60 15 and new so not changing those. I will research the /6 318 and go from there. For now I'm just daily driving it and enjoying it. Thanks for the tips friends.
Looking for ideas to fix the passenger side upper rear shock mount hole... After letting A little air out of the air shocks.I noticed Is a noise coming from the passenger side rear After popping the trunk I noticed that the shock bolt was A little crooked and it looked like it was cracked a...
The photo in post #16 says J heads. J's are 188/160 valve heads and are open chambered. 70-71 360 or 72 340/360. The OP needs to do his homework or not pay much for it because of the unknowns. How about the numbers on the block, drivers side front below the cylinder head on the deck surface.
Be sure to paint the parts in the primers window, or you might have to scuff everything, for it to adhere correctly. Primer usually has a window of 24 hrs.
I use a lot of Summit name brand stuff, along with Mancinni Racing.
