You are my Buddy don't get me wrong = BUT Apples to Oranges comparison! Your car is not a 273 engine with stock compression/Tiny carb/Production Iron Heads with stock CCs My STOCK Z06 runs 130MPH plus also but that is not an equal comparison either as it IS 650HP. If you could get 400HP out...

    What is this tool thread?

I have this gauge, what's it for? It stands about two inches tall. It says Lufkin, and Made in USA, but no other markings on it. It must measure the depth of a hole or something similar I think, because the zero mark is in the fully extended position. Any help to be had? Here are the markings...

    Which Fram Oil Filter.

I believe Fram was bought or or purchased by Allied Signal in the 80’s. They sucked up I believe (don’t hold me to it) champion and a few others. It was that point Fram went down hill. As far as I am concerned. After that point the Housing was easier to crush taking off and honestly after...

Must have been an old Eddie C-454 intake. Would have made a good test piece for this test, with a 4150 with slotted base to bolt directly onto a dommy manifold.

    fender tag Decoding Values

That Charger site is the best online 66/67 tag decoder I'm aware of. ...but is incomplete as it only lists codes for options available on Chargers. Still the best currently available besides sifting through individual option codes from scanned books at hamtramckhistorical.

SM Head Modifications on a budget

The most I’ve ever gotten out of a factory head is mid-270’s…….and that was an X head…….. which have a more sloping SSR than a J head. I had some cnc ported J heads here that went 280-ish after some tweaking of the runner & VJ. These heads had some fairly generously sized bowls. Both of those...

Flooding in our neighboring town but they just have a dike system on the downtown side. The North Cedar area is the overflow. Waterloo will crest tonight and our dikes will contain it all with little or no flooding. It will crest at 15.8". The record level is 27.01' from back in 2008. Just a...

I would assume that an engine with 225 cfm heads and 450hp, would need a bunch more cam to reach 450, than an engine with 300 cfm heads. I would bet the milder cam/better head combo will be a better driver.

SM Head Modifications on a budget

290 with a 2.02 valve is doable but lots of work and effort to get there. Pictures are out there on how to get there and I’ve given about every number that I port to, except the short side. Every valve size 2.02, 2.055, and 2.08 have a shortside size but I won’t give that number out. Way way to...

Here's a question that occurred to me after reading you guys talking about porting the X & J heads back in the stone ages. What did you do about the short side then? Can't lower it very much because of water.

I ran a gold claw on my car , the one with the replaceable sleeves. I thought it had 850 sleeves in it, and the car ran well with them. (I also used a 2" open spacer).
