    340 or 408?

Since you asked, it would be pretty tough to afford to keep rear tires on such a beast. :)

Which head/combustion chamber is better for performance? Speed master aluminum LA or aftermarket magnum iron head?

Just to confuse matters even more, Edelbrock has both and LA casting and a magnum style casting that are very different.

Which head/combustion chamber is better for performance? Speed master aluminum LA or aftermarket magnum iron head?

With that cam any of the magnum style heads would work well. Even the stock magnum heads with a good valve job very minimal chamber and bowl work would be a good choice. Check out Charles Serviedo (spelling?) youtube videos about small block mopar heads.

    340 or 408?

What do you want the stroker to do that the current 340 doesn't do for you already?

    Lunati cams being phased out?

None of this is good news. I feel like I am watching our hobby going into the death throws because of all the parts issues. I still have a few builds left in me I hope, but I no longer plan on them being worth much of anything even when they are done.

    Lunati cams being phased out?

Very few options listed for mopar stuff on jegs or summit now.

    .480/230 cam in an 8.5 CR 360?

Then run the cam you have and plan your roller block build.

    340 Overheat / Radiator Geyser

I gotcha. Get the thing on the hwy cruising at steady 55 to 60 for a few miles. If the temp goes down, it would point towards a possible problem with the shroud or fan not being up to snuff at idle. 205-210 is normal for most newer stuff including the magnums run at. Wondering if you...

    340 Overheat / Radiator Geyser

Does the temperature go down at highway speeds or stay the same? Didn't see where you mentioned what degree thermostat you have installed. I would want to at least temporarily install a manual temp gauge to verify actual coolant temps.

    5.9L Magnum questions

I have the hughes cam you pictured in my 5.9 2002 Ram van and really like it. (Edit- mine is 114 lsa version for stock magnum fuel injection) Did a stock bottom end rebuild with the hughes cam and eq nz heads. Big difference in power and engine doesn't stop pulling. Might as well go ahead...

    Cam swap without pulling motor

Aluminum heads and roller rockers on that 7 to 1 short block are like putting silk stockings on a pig. I would either buy a set of pistons, or start over with a 5.9 magnum to build.

    440 Pistons, How F*cked am I

What year engine is the piston from and is it standard or oversize.

    440 Pistons, How F*cked am I

I'm with you Rusty. Aluminum is brittle and could have unseen cracks. Probably find that piston on ebay for 30 bucks. No need to take a chance.

    Installing small cam in Stroker?

Exactly. The 440 magnums were under cammed with a 268 degree intake duration from the factory. Not every engine has to wind to 6 or 7k to make decent power for a street motor.

    Installing small cam in Stroker?

But how much torque was added? I'd hazard a guess of 50 lb ft across about a 2k rpm spread.

How should I prep for a color change over existing good paint?

In addition to the advice already given, I would highly recommend using PPG DBC basecoat. PPG formulas are much closer and have more formula variants to choose from than other paint systems. Take the bad fender or gas lid to the paint shop, have them match it and do a spray out. The belt...

Kidney Stone tamed down so I’m at it again. Always feels good to grab a grinder after a little break.

Glad you are feeling better now sir. I had the kidney stone experience. It sucks, but it wasn't the worst pain I have had. Still stopped me from getting anything done till it passed though.

    Thermostat gasket leaking AGAIN!!!!

Are the housing bolts bottoming out? Maybe silicone or something else at the bottom of the threaded holes?

    valve chatter 360 magnum

I agree. Got to at least check them out before installing a used engine. From what I have seen of cam bearings on even lower mileage magnums you are just asking for problems otherwise.

Did you install the computer for the seat belts as well? Just FYI for others newer 2001 up Sebring convertible seats don't require a computer to lock the belts like 96-2000 models do. Nice ride btw

Estimated hp and tq. 360 la

Others have chimed in answering your question about approximate numbers. I will just say bolt it up and have fun regardless of any specific numbers. A running car is going to be more fun than one sitting for months or years waiting to assemble the "perfect" build.

    valve chatter 360 magnum

I am not going to say what is right or wrong on someone else's engine built by a 3rd party. I will say though that if I built a motor than only made 10lbs of oil pressure at idle I would for sure find out why. It may not be an issue now, but what happens a couple years down the road?
  25. M

    valve chatter 360 magnum

Definitely would try heavier oil to start with. Anyone had experience with an oil pump spring becoming weak after warm up? Wondering if replacing with a higher pressure spring would help?

I bet they either lowered the price or they took them back home with them.

    Fighting sore back once again

Get a couple of the big gel ice packs off of amazon. They help keep me going with all kinds of back problems. Just getting over spraining my sacroiliac joint again. That one put be down for over a month. Steroid injection in the joint finally gave some relief after chiropractor, ice, and...

Rebuilding 440 after wiping a cam lobe

That really sucks. Sorry that happened to you sir. I would tear it all down and start again, cleaning everything well enough to eat off of it. Pay special attention to the lifter bores. I would install whatever cam and lifters you will use by themselves in the bare block, then mark each...

How much would you pay for a product made in the US vs China

Depends a lot on the part. Good oem supplier brake rotors made in USA or Canada, I would gladly pay 5 times as much. A crap quality edlebrock intake not inclined to spend more than a higher quality knock off.

What MPG are you 340 guys getting?

Watch your trans coolant temps. That 4400 stall with an overdrive could be a problem if it isn't a lock up converter.
