    Anyone seen this car?

Whereabouts in Kansas? That's a big state....

    preserving new vehicle?

Just don't ever drive it and park it indoors with a dehumidifier.

    This place is amazing!

I smell....not a fart....but it's a similar odeur.... It's a familiar smell....like milk left in a bowl in the hot sun... Or maybe some cabbage you forgot about in the back of the crisper drawer..... I smell a thread de-railin'.......

Remember that SB Mopar Hilborn intake "I used to have?"

It'll get better, man. I promise.

    This place is amazing!

I'm just here for the green-bearing slap-fights. For some reason, the Ford forums don't have those.

    Almost lost a wheel

7/16"? I forgot about that. Do what's necessary to use the 1/2" stuff that's been used for the last fifty years.

    Spindels?

    They're all forged, 100%.

Speaking Of Hard To Get Parts....

Shoulda called the fella with the Vette radiator. Knowing how often Chevy cross-fits parts, it might've been the same as the one you needed for the pickup

    Almost lost a wheel

That doesn't impact the shear load on those lug studs that much, but remember, the longer the spacer, the more tension is applied to the lug studs. On the factory setup, the shear is transmitted a little bit through the center register and primarily through the clamped face between wheel and...

I lowered my Valiant yesterday. No, I do not like the look.

I knew the hinge notch should have been deeper, but I listened to the saw pros for the first time ever and was in a hurry so I didn't listen to myself or think it through the million times I usually do. That elm was 24" in diameter at the trunk. I'm not upset. It missed the house, garage, and...

I'm thrilled I got this hood for my Dart...

It's probably the previous owner over tightening the studs or the hood flex causing the studs to break. Those scoops just don't catch enough air to break those studs and if they did catch of ton of air, it'd rip the studs from the air scoop first. I mean, that's a great car and I'm sure it's...

    Interesting intake on Facebook tonight

Do my eyes deceive me, or does that Pro-Stock intake have EGR?

    Interesting intake on Facebook tonight

40 year old low-grade parts are probably still better quality than the Chinese stuff on the market today....

    Sure grip housing... send it?

Odd, one very similarly worn just appeared on this site like a week ago. The consensus then was 'run it!'. Most of the force will be on the ring gear side. I would run it, especially on a street car.

    Bad paint job

This is why I'm a 'rust' and 'bondo' man. That **** never changes.
  16. jos51700

Lower priced Power lok, sure grip units on Ebay.

Whenever I see that "US Seller/US Stock" crap, I know it's the cheapest Chinesium **** to hit the market, and those part numbers are probably copied from whatever they copied to make that thing. If it goes south and locks up while you're cruising, you swap ends. I don't need a trashed axle due...

That's sharp! How did you texture the grind marks?

Pin hole in cast iron head

That Belzona stuff is probably just as valid as JB Weld (I'd like to know what the differences are). I'm not sure how epoxy would hold up against fuel over time. Maybe plain old plumbing solder? Water pressure in pipes is typically 55+psi, over a hundred if you don't have an expansion tank...

Speaking Of Hard To Get Parts....

Sad to say but that's the issue. Go back far enough, and the people attached to a certain era of vehicle becomes very small. That's going to be muscle-era Mopars in short order.

The one and only set of ProMaxx heads I’ve ever touched

The upper left picture only shows valve springs installed on the center two cylinders, unless I'm looking at it wrong. I can't zoom in to see the other pics.

Speaking Of Hard To Get Parts....

If it's so common, how come you didn't have it? I get what you're saying about 'they're a radiator shop after all....', (and my dad has a half-dozen mid-60's Chevy trucks), but the fact is, there just aren't that many out there and they can't afford to buy(build) one and have it sit on a shelf...

Pin hole in cast iron head

16psi times a hole .020" in diameter is like .005 pounds of force, if my math is right. There's not much force on that, at least from the coolant pressure with a 16psi cap. I would think most epoxies/bottle welds/brazes would seal that up. Someone should check my math. I don't feel well today...

The one and only set of ProMaxx heads I’ve ever touched

Do they always only come with four valve springs installed?

    Sleeved 340

Every aluminum block, including top fuel blocks, is sleeved. As long as it's done properly, run it. If I was going to sleeve a block, I'd sleeve 'em all because I'm OCD like that.

Was Your First Job at Minimum Wage?

Pizza Hut, 1996-1999ish. At one point, they denied me a raise, everyone else quit, and I was training my supervisors who had been hired at 50% more than I was making. I only got raises when the minimum wage was increased. My store manager quit at the same time I did and they found out she was...

FRAUD ALERT. Let me give you a warning.

Not gonna lie, the work you do to your parts is pretty damn good. I don't blame them for stealing your pictures.

Turning key to "run" causes all power loss.

It's probably not necessary, but I've gotten to where I bypass the ammeter (bolt one lug directly to the other) during any diagnostics at all. Whether you leave it like that is up to you.

    Spindle Replacement

Respectfully, you're wrong. The red arrow points to the seal surface: the inner bearing rides inboard of that. The purple arrows aren't pointing anywhere. The outer bearing rides on the cylindrical surface just inboard of the threads, and is fine. It's cylindrical so the outer bearing is free to...
