    [Found!] Exhaust header wrap

Header wrap tape. I think it's fairly close to a full roll. I dunno, used it on my old Harley years ago. Asking $20.00 shipped to a US postal address

Header to trans. line and shifter cable clearance

I put a big block with a 727 in my 69 Dart. I also installed a set of full length TTI headers. While neither of the trans. lines are touching the header tubes, there is only about 1/2" of gap at the closest spot. Do you think this will be an issue with heating the trans. fluid? I've done some...

Header to trans. line and shifter cable clearance

...due to the cable mounting bracket's location. I also can't move the lines any further away without replacing them completely and somehow rerouting them. I think I'll try some header wrap on both and hopefully that will take care of any potential problems. Maybe if I double up the wrap as well.

Wrap is like rap. Header wrap causes rust. Rap caused societal decay....same thing different spelling lol

Header to trans. line and shifter cable clearance

If increasing clearance isn't possible, then you can buy insulating material (e.g header wrap, spark plug wire insulation, etc.) for either header tube or the cooler lines/cable. The volume of fluid traveling through the cooler lines won't significantly heat up through brief exposure to a hot...

    Wrapped headers....or Unwrapped

Keep in mind any ceramic coating applied by the manufacturer or an independent shop has a warranty. That warranty is AUTOMATICALLY VOIDED by applying header wrap.

    Headers, 72 Duster 360 w-power steering

TTI and Doug's ae your best choices. If you don't mind saving money, banging with a hammer to fit and wrapping the tubes with header wrap so nobody can see the dents, then any other header will work fine.

Stripping old ceramic coated headers and recoating them with high temp vht 2000°

Header wrap also traps moisture between it and the header causing severe rust out. Ask me how I know!

Stripping old ceramic coated headers and recoating them with high temp vht 2000°

Though I doubt you care now, installing header wrap voids all ceramic warranties you may otherwise be entitled to.

    Wrapped headers....or Unwrapped

I did wrap some factory headers a few years ago in a ford ranger. It helped with the engine temps, but the cast exhaust manifold cracked after a while. I have read that wrap also voids header warranties. Mine never came apart or aything like that but it was a good brand, I believe it was DEI I...

Stripping old ceramic coated headers and recoating them with high temp vht 2000°

I have some TTI’s like that. Instead of removing the coating, thinking of just doing a header wrap and just plop them in. Your looks very nice though.

    Gets hot and stalls out

I am leery of header wrap as I toasted a set of headers on of all things my '88 Dak with a 125 HP V6. I wrapped them to keep the heat out of the engine compartment but in about 3 months, the totally fell apart flaking rust all over the place and naturally massive leaks. Edelbrock said that...

    Wrapped headers....or Unwrapped

Well I do know they don’t use header wrap for horsepower. And I know that because they don’t use it. If sticking a 10 dollar stuffed unicorn on the hood made 5 more horsepower they'd do it.

Pics of how dougs headers and a borgenson steering box fit.

so my buddy dave has a 360 sitting on a 73 style duster k-frame that he is working on. he has a manual box on it but asked me to bring my borgenson box over to see how it would fit on his set up. these are dougs headers on a 360 bolted to a 73 duster k-frame. he wrapped the header too. the...

    Wrapped headers....or Unwrapped

People spend more $$$ than header wrap cost for a few hp here and there. I wouldn’t say hp wise it’s the most needed mod but to say you shouldn’t do it if your only motive is hp is kind of silly, and cause pro stock doesn’t use it doesn’t mean it”s proof of being ineffective, maybe it is or...

    12:05 Garage- ’70 Duster build

Running in the rain seems like it would be fun, but it gets old after a few runs. Just getting the car moving requires a feather touch to the throttle. It sure does make cool photos though. Before anyone asks, that is header wrap hanging that tore when I plowed over a cone.

No and they are really close to that area. I had some off brand header wrap for a while and it gave terrible fiberglass slivers anytime you were near them, so that came off.

I’ll see if I can find it, but there’s an aluminum heat shield that you can put there and it really helps.

Can't get Pro Parts headers to fit.

Schumacher sells a shim pack. The kit should come with a bunch of shims that fit under the mount. Different sizes which add up to over 1" of shims.

Can't get Pro Parts headers to fit.

I'm using the Schumachers on a 6cyl K-Frame as well. How can you shim the mount? You mean go up with the engine by throwing a washer under the motor mount (can you do that? does that weaken the mount?)? I can't do this anyway because the header tubes that wrap around the driver's side frame rail...

Glyptal & best way to apply it?

Read the instructions from the paint manufacturer. A lot of paints require curing processes. Example: header paints get a bad wrap for not lasting long, but if you read the application requirements and curing requiments, you have bake the paint which most people don't bother to do. Also Red...

    Another 360 question (or two)

I did the header wrap around the areas where the starter and oil filter relocation kit is to help out with the heat. After I'm done with the relo kit I can start on the front of the engine.
