    Bottom End Rebuild Planning

Good point. May make sense to just do some head and cam mods and leave the pistons to deal with when it is necessary?

    Bottom End Rebuild Planning

I have not done any calcs yet. Kinda figuring I might have to remove the head and CC it to figure out what I'm starting with. As far as I know, it is factory and never pulled with 60k miles, but it is almost 50 years old so...

    Bottom End Rebuild Planning

Lol- now you've given me a lot more to research and contemplate... The forged pistons set I got is from Icon (thread here: Forged pistons/pins - group buy - Pistons ordered on 1/31/24 - Slant Six Forum )

Saw that. They put some special machined spacers in to make it work with the bearings from what I understood.

Interesting... I'll have to give them a call for more info and add it to my wishlist.

    Bottom End Rebuild Planning

Thanks. In my reading I did see that the Molnars are only available for the forged crank, though it seems some people have machined the rods thinner to work with the cast crank. Mine I'm 99% sure is a cast crank so I'd either have to do that or to find a forged crank engine to rebuild instead...

    PCV Plumbing with Torqstorm supercharger

For now, I went with a Motion Raceworks catch can plumbed from both ports on the valve cover to the can based on discussion in another thread. I think it'll be good but will report back here if anything goes awry.

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

Got my catch can in UPS today and installed it. Should take care of the oil mist I was getting out of the valve cover.

    Hot Rod Power Tour 2024

Nice! I saw several of those same ones... I ended up with an overheating issue / blown fan fuse while waiting in the line to get in, so my visit got a bit hectic for a while. Enjoy the next few days!

    A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

Well, I made it to the Hot Rod Power Tour today, mostly without incident. The last 3 miles to get in was way backed up and apparently my fan decided to blow it's fuse, so the radiator ended up puking. Waited half an hour or so and it cooled down enough to limp it the rest of the way there. The...

    Bottom End Rebuild Planning

Some of you I'm sure have seen my thread about my recent Sniper/Torqstorm Slant modification. It's running well as of now and I plan to take it easy on it this season. However, I did not do anything to the bottom end of the engine. My thought is that this winter I'll yank it again and rebuild...

    Hot Rod Power Tour 2024

My Slant six/Sniper/Torqstorm project I just got running last weekend seems to be running consistently enough, so I'm gonna plan to come down to BG tomorrow and check it out for the day.

Slant 6 timing help- Torqstorm and Sniper EFI

No room for the filter between the radiator support and the grill unfortunately... it'd be pretty slick to build a cold air intake box around the filter and then change the marker light in the grill to an inlet duct though...

Slant 6 timing help- Torqstorm and Sniper EFI

For anyone interested, the loud hiss of air at cruise was a bit excessive. I read somewhere of someone putting a unifoam sock on to quiet it down. Went looking and found Uni-Filter part # UP-6300 and ordered one. Once arrived, I cut a small hole in the top for the BOV hose to pass through and...

How strong is a T-5 transmission?

@halfafish - we could probably put together one pretty decent car between our stuff! I'll be watching this thread as a manual has been in the back of my mind for maybe at some point.

Slant 6 timing help- Torqstorm and Sniper EFI

99% understood. To confirm, that means that air could go either way through the filter/catch can into or out of the crankcase in order to normalize crankcase pressure to whatever is needed as there would be no check valves or PCV valves anywhere in the system.

Slant 6 timing help- Torqstorm and Sniper EFI

After as much as I've spent, what's another $200 plus hoses?!?! So in my case if I were to use the one suggested, I'd: Ditch the PCV Run a hose from the PCV port on the valve cover to one of the ports on the can Plug the other port in the can as I think it's a dual inlet that is vented...

Thanks. I did get this catch can "free" as part of the black Friday sale when I bought the supercharger. What would you suggest be on the outlet side of the can?

    PCV Plumbing with Torqstorm supercharger

That thought had crossed my mind. It would be pretty easy to add a bung in that u-shaped tube I have between the supercharger and the air filter.

    PCV Plumbing with Torqstorm supercharger

It does have these ports. I guess I'm confused as to how those could generate vacuum if there is positive pressure in the intake manifold.

EFI... It's the Super Sniper 2300 - 2 barrel one rated for blow through applications.

    PCV Plumbing with Torqstorm supercharger

Nope - not that old... It completely makes sense that they can't be hooked up to the intake - It just didn't cross my mind until afterwards and noticing the oil collection. The right solution will be figured out and implemented soon.

Slant 6 timing help- Torqstorm and Sniper EFI

I have not opened ring gap. As of now, the whole head and bottom end are completely stock. I have read about opening ring gap before but was hoping that with the relatively low boost numbers I was expecting, it wouldn't be an issue. I do expect at some point to likely do a bottom end rebuild...

    PCV Plumbing with Torqstorm supercharger

I recently finished install of the Torqstorm on my Slant 6. Got just under 100 miles on it so far and see that I'm gathering some oil on top of the valve cover around the PCV Valve. Now that I've noticed and am researching further, I feel like I might be missing some needed components such as a...

Slant 6 timing help- Torqstorm and Sniper EFI

I got the modification needed done at the exhaust shop today, so thankfully the column shift linkage isn't dragging against the exhaust anymore. Made it much easier to do some shifting on my own tonight. I'm up to almost 100 miles on it so far since starting on Sunday. Running really well -...
