    Finally had a good day.

Doctors told me “they don’t know what causes them”. They showed it to me and I said “no way that thing came out of my dick” but I was pretty messed up on the drugs they gave me.

    Finally had a good day.

From my experience, the first one is a killer. The second and third are not quite as painful and once it was confirmed that is what it was, I was like, meh I’ll get through this. But then again it was like 25 years between first and second, so I totally wasn’t expecting the second. The first...

    Hood scoop to big?

Just because his car and most cars of that era are shaped like a brick doesn’t mean it can’t be made worse and that scoop will. It’s kind of like rubbing salt in a wound after you already rubbed dirt in it, just my opinion. And that’s what he is looking for, opinions.

    Hood scoop to big?

I’d turn it around opening facing the windshield as far back as I could. Use a 14” K&N air filter 4” tall with a X stream top and cut the hole in the hood so it sticks through.

    Hood scoop to big?

That’s where all the good air is, right at the front of the hood.

    Honing Oil Options?

Just buy some honing oil, your parts store should have some. I don’t like using penetrating oils, fumes.

My plans for my 69 Dart Swinger 340

I’m not saying 60’s look, just the stupid way of doing it in the 60’s with air shocks. Keep in mind that when you rake a car like that, you mess up your front suspension geometry a bit. Tire wear, slow down the steering (oversteer I believe).

Recommendation For Small Block Re-usable Valve Cover Gaskets?

I don’t really know what they are, they are not the cork or rubber wire gaskets. They look like regular gasket material, the ones with tabs on them that hold onto the valve cover.

    .480/230 cam in an 8.5 CR 360?

You can never go wrong with bumping your compression ratio up a bit, but you have to check it by cc the combustion chamber and piston face at TDC to know what it really is.

Recommendation For Small Block Re-usable Valve Cover Gaskets?

I had good luck with the Fel-Pro gaskets that came in the engine overhaul set. I used silicone to attach them to the valve covers.

My plans for my 69 Dart Swinger 340

Front disc’s first. You’ll have plenty to do right there. I would look into electric power steering, thats what all new cars have, get more room for headers and such. Why air shocks? That’s so 60’s. You will hate the ride quality. New re-arched leaf springs is the way I would go if I wanted...

UPDATE - Looks so good but ya can't shut the hood

For as rare as those seem to be and the money they are commanding, especially as one that looks as good as yours does, it would be wise to go another route. I have a 70-71 that needs restoration, it looks fairly well used. I was told it was worth $350 USD minimum.

    360 Plug help

You need to know your compression ratio before you can choose the right heat range plug. Those plugs look rich to me.

    Have you ever lost

Yep, lost mine in the late 70’s. Unleaded gas intro and fazing out of regular leaded, butt ugly new cars that couldn’t get out of their own way. Add all that to working to build a solid foundation for my career which took me years. So I regained it in 1990 and to my shock the appreciated prices...

I'm thrilled I got this hood for my Dart...

Do what OMM told you to do. Use a 4” die and punch. I have used them before, but at the 2” diameter. It cuts a clean hole, quickly, way cleaner than having it lazer cut and there is virtually no heat involved. You just drill a hole center location and mount die on the underside of hood with...

Don't know what motor to swap in.

If your looking for new aftermarket parts, 440. Still a good selection somewhat reasonably priced. 318 cheap, but aftermarket parts are getting less and less. 360 about the same as 318. Magnum not much I know about. 340?, forget about it unless you got deep pockets. Gen III hemi, all the rage...

    Header fitment Hedman 78056

Whatever the fit is, keep in mind that the collector has a ball for a socket hookup to exhaust pipe. Rarely do muffler shops have a die to swage a 3 inch socket.

Hughes HUG1110P valve springs- anyone use them?

While their springs are generally a good idea, they want to sell you their whole valve train as they say it matches, well I dont like their lifters. They make a big deal about spring wire lock rings failing and use stamped lock rings which they say are bulletproof. Well show me the data where...

    426 hemi advice

Think about it, who would want it but you(you think right now)? Think about all the guys that turned their nose up at a sleeved 340 or 383 block, even if it was done properly and even really well.

Hughes HUG1110P valve springs- anyone use them?

Everything depends on what cam you are using. Hughes sells quality products, but they will try to sell you more than you need or want. Why don’t you buy the recommended parts from the cam manufacturer. Your unlikely to find a bunch of silver bullets mixing and matching unless you have boat...
