ok i feel better that im not alone. man i hope this little starter really spins the motor over.
the headers i have are unknown brand but i think they are headman s for b and e body. they were rusty when i bought them at a swap meet.
they take some real work to make fit
i bought the same one back in the fall and just got around to mounting this week, along with the headers and all the hassles. i had a problem with the large electrical lug hitting the block so i cut it down some and it seems all right there. then the stater housing hits the header tube so...
does anyone know a way to test a 3 spd motor out of a 74? i bought a supposedly good used motor but cant get anything out of it, i ran an extra ground wire to it and still nothing. I checked voltage going to the bulkhead connector and only get 9 volts but still shouldnt it run but slower...
yes you can do that but go to madelectrical .com and do their bypass of the bulkhead connector and the ammeter bypass and clean all the other bulkhead connections.
well if its been a good while since a tuneup, i would start with a new cap rotor, plug wires and see if that helps. then if you see no difference in the spark, replace coil , then the ign. control box .
yes hes talking about the amp meter wires. a lot of people bypass the meter and it takes care of their problems but you need to start at the battery and get yourself a 12 v test light and check for voltage to stater , starter relay, to bulk head and into igntion switch. if it wont turn at...
hi fellas, i want to upgrade my alternator to a 100 amp due to the fact i have installed dual electric cooling fans and my present alter. cant keep the battery charged. at idle i can watch the voltage drop with the car running and the fans on. the alternator checked out fine at...
hi fellas in trying to make since of my wiring harness or whats left of it.
when i bought this basket case last year the harnesses were in a 5 gallon pail. now that ive gotten a motor in place im trying to sort thru the engine harness. From what i can see, im missing the neutral safety sw...
thats gotta be what happened, now ive got it right and the fans are working. im bringing the power for the msd box off the battery.
thanks to all who responded
i tested the voltage with engine running and at the battery it was 12.45 and dropped to 12.1 as the fans came on and the engine died.
ok my stupidity , after reading the last 2 posts , i checked it and there was an extra wire lead coming from the fan relay that was hot when the fans...
i will go back over everything tommorrow , maybe i missed something , i have taken the lugs loose at the ballast resistor and jumpered them maybe i screwed something up.
i have one relay thats good for 30 amps running both of them. i do have a voltage meter mounted but not hooked up yet. i guess i need to get under the dash tommorrow and bypass that alter. gauge. its strange the engine dies as soon as i flip the fan switch , the battery is a good one...
hi fellas, ive just today gotten my 383 back to life after 5 years on the stand.
still need to tune it , reroute wires etc. ive put 2 10" electric fans on the back side of the radiator to pull the air thru. they are supposed to only pull around 12 amps ea. well they must pull alot more or...
hi guys, could someone with a 74 dart take a pic of the pass. side fender and shock mount area so i can see where the voltage reg. mounts . or better yet a pic of the voltage reg. and associated wires. mine is missing and so are the wires. thanks
i think you could get the abody ones to work but you might have to shorten or lenthen a few wires. but remember the pre 72 s dont have electronic ignition. neither would the 69 so you would have to get the electornic ign. harness and wire it in. also the 69 has the older style volt. reg...
if the part is going to draw hi amps you need to , otherwise you will need to run a large wire to each accesory. the relay allows you to run a small wire back to the switch and run the large wire only to the relay and the pump, fans , etc.l
im working on the engine wiring for my 74 and it looks like im missing a section. i have the 3 bulkhead connectors attached and the main harness routed around and to the headlights , it was all unhooked and stuffed in a bucket when i bought the car. i have the starter solenoid...
