Looking for suggestions for a factory 383ci. set of heads. Blocks at the machine shop getting sonic tested and punched out .070". Cam hasn't been bought yet. I'd take suggestions there too! First time BB build.

Totally the opposite as to what your recommending. However I have to ask. What's gonna be the best overall " factory head " that " I " can get/find for " my " build. I don't want constant race. Just a decent sound. 1969, 383 punched .070 over.

I agree with Volare Don. Pay the extra cash and get something you won't regret buying. I barely broke even reselling the 2nd 1. If it wasn't for the money made off the first 1 to compensate buying the 2nd 1, I'd went backwards. Never again.

If your referring to performance Plus products , don't waste your time unless they got they're quality control worked out. Casting shifts too much. Last 1 I bought wouldn't bolt up. Flange angle was way,,,,,,,,off.

I've had what I considered a bada$$ed 383, and I've had what I'd call a bada$$ed 360 that literally made a 454 look like an idiot. I love'm both , passionately and can not make a selection between the 2.

look at the I.D. pad below the dist. If it's got a bunch of X's, or maybe it's H's on that pad I'm told that was or hasor is plagued with defects from the factory and was remanned before it left the factory.

Jet up! Or grab a cutting torch tip cleaner and start honing out passages. I knew 1 guy took a BBD and took a torch tip cleaner to it and gave the carb back to the guy he worked it over for. He was clocked at 135mph. Supposedly. Never seen it, so I cannot testify to it.

Could very well be, but I'd still like to know what it sonic tested at.
