Don't read if you're close minded

Must have been an old Eddie C-454 intake. Would have made a good test piece for this test, with a 4150 with slotted base to bolt directly onto a dommy manifold.

I would assume that an engine with 225 cfm heads and 450hp, would need a bunch more cam to reach 450, than an engine with 300 cfm heads. I would bet the milder cam/better head combo will be a better driver.

Don't read if you're close minded

I ran a gold claw on my car , the one with the replaceable sleeves. I thought it had 850 sleeves in it, and the car ran well with them. (I also used a 2" open spacer). Imagine my surprise when I did some research, and found they were 770 cfm. I never did change them out for the bigger sleeves I...

Not true, if you have a stick.... or a 5500 converter (speaking strictly drag racing).

Don't read if you're close minded

Agreed. Imo, the test is,only semi valid. Better would be to use similar manifolds dedicated to the carb of choice...... or best, a manifold for a dominator that has stud holes for a 4150 too, so both can be run on the SAME manifold.... without an adaptor or spacer.. or a 4150 with slots in the...

Don't read if you're close minded

I have Never believed the hokum that a 4150 could flow as much as a dominator..... except for that weird little 750 one. Explanation? Advertising hype. It doesn't HAVE to be truth.

I'm gonna have to come back and read this whole thread, but it comes down to the specific combination, as to what it likes. I've seen tests where a 1050 dominator was no better than a (supposedly 1050) 4150. Also... what spacer/adapter was used? Could definitely have an effect.

    What color is my car?

No fender tag? Paint it whatever you want. That said, bottom side of the trunklid might give you the best look at the original color, to compare to the color charts.

    Tires Tires,

I'm gonna assume you wanna keep the 13" wheels, and the 5 on 4" pattern (personally , I would move to 15s, but wheel selection is almost non-existent) Go to TIRESIZE.com and hunt up the tire size calculator chart for 13"wheels. It will tell you every size 13 available give dimensions and...

    Mufflers like Dynomax

Had hooker aeros on this car. Didn't care for them at first, but when I got used to em, I really liked em. center in/out. Didn't have the tinny sound of flowmasters. A very solid muffler.

I have lots of work to do on my cars, but by 9am it's well over a hundred, and the shop Is 98 and climbing. I've got a room a/c unit, gonna try it in the hole where the dead swamp cooler is now. (I think it cooled down to 95, around 3am last night)

    Stanley Cup !

Euro cup soccer in the background as I type this, hockey is SO MUCH BETTER and faster than the "most beautiful sport" (soccer announcer quote, I disagree). Just waiting for the baseball game to start.

    Mufflers like Dynomax

If you are getting rid of fm40s, almost anything will be an improvement. If you don't care for the Sound of turbos, I'd try something life a magnaflow or dynomax straight thru, (like boosted uses, I've heard his car in person, sounds great! But he has a LOT of motor).but I'd get the longest...

    Mufflers like Dynomax

I have fm 50 series (three chamber, no drone) on one of my cars, love the sound and the flow is good... but mine are huge, and ridiculously expensive now. I would not consider a two chamber fm for any car you want to use for more than a half hour. The nickname for a fm 40 is "dronemonster"...

I have NO personal experience with them, but check out Jones Exhaust, at summit. Stainless mufflers at a good price, and everything from a 5"thru pipe race muffler, to a 36" case turbo muffler. If you want an excellent muffler recommendation, page @VOETOM.

I can relate, to being difficult to photograph. Tried to take a shot of two of mine, asleep, somehow they ALL woke up, charged me and barked. Had to go play ball. I have three long hair black-and-red gsd's..... and one tuxedo cat. My kids. Edit: and I love black (and gray, and torties) cats!

Adding Pinion Angle Shims - Tell Me If This Sounds Correct, Please

Pinion angle terms are critical to be on the same page, using the same terms. I agree with Trailbeast, and want to make things clear. If your o.d. is tipped down 5° from level, front to rear, then ideal for the pinion gear is 5° up from level. To get it to be there under load, somewhere around...

Adding Pinion Angle Shims - Tell Me If This Sounds Correct, Please

Depending on your springs, I think 2 1/2° down is about right. I have angle shims on my car to get the nose about 5° down, but it's primarily a strip car, with ss springs. I personally throw every pinion snubber in the trash. If it's close enough to the floor to actually DO something, it wrecks...

    Pressure regulator?

I would sure replace that with a normal holley-style regulator. They aren't real expensive.. I've got two or three brand new laying around, they usually come with the pumps I buy. I've got the regulator on the inner fender panel, with two braided lines to the carb (holley). The lines and...

    Quarter Mile Gear Selection

At 1.45 he talks about losing his track a couple years ago. I think that was the old roundy track I was thinking of. If I remember right, that one was 535 feet, or somewhere around that.
