It's no wonder the Slant 6 is so great!

Never seen a problem with the crank. Rods yes, but cranks no. The "truck" crank is in the 80's the passenger car crank is in the 70's.

Reverse Y exhaust pipe for Dutra Duals?

Gill welding makes what you are looking for. I built mine with the flowmaster y. Lots of work to get it to the exhaust shop to finish the system.

    Slant 6 stroker?

There were lots of stories in the old days about a Truck 240 Cu Inch slant. Here is a blurb from a 1969 Hot Rod Engine Swap book. A 240 would be a .110 overbore with a stock 4.125 stroke. I have never seen any Mopar documentation of this engine. Lots of the slant racers are doing that much...

Aluminum Block 170 surfaces this weekend

There was a post in one of the regions this weekend about a stash of slant six parts. In the tread there was a Offy intake, a bare 225 B Body Aluminum Block and a bare 170 Aluminum Block. The tread was removed because of phone number and no price. According to some folks on /6 org the seller has...

Best way to lift a slant 6 engine block ?

Last time I put the engine in my Colt I used the top of the head bolts AND another chain down to the trans brace bolt bosses. This kept the engine at a 30 deg. tilt and it went in like butter. If you just use the top bolts at some point you have to twist it over to align the bellhousing.

    Tri-Y Headers for torque?

    Tri-Y Headers for torque?

Yes, I tried to find a picture, I will keep looking for the image. I just read something yesterday about a different header pairing. I am not sure how any of them might work. I like the 6 into 1 deal myself, that seems like a self scavenging deal to me. My headers are 1-2-3, 4-5-6, kinda boring.

    Tri-Y Headers for torque?

There are many theories about what works with various combinations. Pete McNicholl who was a member of the Ramchargers was successful with tuning the exhaust system. Here is his dragster from the early sixties. The collectors are way down the head pipes. His Willys had a form of Tri-Y that he...

    Weber DGV float setting

Yea I don't know that carb, but on my DCOEs : You have to hang it vertical. I have 3 or 4 Weber manuals, lot of different information of float setting. 3 to 4 PSI is important with DCOEs, not sure about yours. I have found much information on a couple of FakeBook user groups.

    Oil pan gasket tips?

It's not easy. Get everything clean, block, pan, timing cover, bolts. Make sure you can get to everything easily as possible. Blocks under the motor mounts will help. Straighten all the sheet metal parts. Clean the oil pickup to make sure it's clear of junk. Change the real main if it needs it...

    Aluminum slant block

He got the head from Doctor Dodge, Doug Dutra. Doug had at least 2, maybe 3 aluminum heads at one time. Pretty sure one melted when the Californian wild fires hit his home garage. BTW, the Valiant with the mostly aluminum engine ended up in Australia and was recently for sale. Steve moved the...

    Aluminum slant block

Go for it! Robert Maw on FB has come up with maybe a fix for the head gasket surface, might be common soon. See if he has the Special head casting when you look at the block. Head bolts, Main Bolts, oil seal retainer parts are different than stock cast iron slants. What intakes does he have? I...

Thanks for the photo credit! I know you didn't ask for all this, but here it is. Might help you find one. Those were out of Australia, pretty common down under. It's also the same as a Max Wedge top. It is Re-popped in Fiberglass by Kramer I think. Filters from NAPA are easy to get, I have the...

    Wiseco Pistons

Rusty, wouldn't a block mill accomplish your near zero deck height? Just no valve clearance! LOL (not really).
  29. Hyper_pak

    Wiseco Pistons

Jim, if you want to come race with us you need those pistons. Light weight, metric ring package, lighter, stronger, able to leap tall buildings, etc. As you said, stock build, not needed. Truck looks supper!
  30. Hyper_pak

will it hurt. whats your opinion

Ok, the 225 is a lot lower piston deck height. Your reamer should do the job. I use an old ring hone with good results. Just break the glaze and leave a good crosshatch pattern and you should be good to go.
