Never seen a problem with the crank. Rods yes, but cranks no. The "truck" crank is in the 80's the passenger car crank is in the 70's.

Last time I put the engine in my Colt I used the top of the head bolts AND another chain down to the trans brace bolt bosses. This kept the engine at a 30 deg. tilt and it went in like butter. If you just use the top bolts at some point you have to twist it over to align the bellhousing.

Yea I don't know that carb, but on my DCOEs : You have to hang it vertical. I have 3 or 4 Weber manuals, lot of different information of float setting. 3 to 4 PSI is important with DCOEs, not sure about yours. I have found much information on a couple of FakeBook user groups.

It's not easy. Get everything clean, block, pan, timing cover, bolts. Make sure you can get to everything easily as possible. Blocks under the motor mounts will help. Straighten all the sheet metal parts. Clean the oil pickup to make sure it's clear of junk. Change the real main if it needs it...

Jim, if you want to come race with us you need those pistons. Light weight, metric ring package, lighter, stronger, able to leap tall buildings, etc. As you said, stock build, not needed. Truck looks supper!

Ok, the 225 is a lot lower piston deck height. Your reamer should do the job. I use an old ring hone with good results. Just break the glaze and leave a good crosshatch pattern and you should be good to go.
