    Dash Pad Removal

Don't know your age, but if you're as old, stiff, and fat as me, it won't be an easy job. Also, the next day you'll feel like you were run over by a truck!

[FOR SALE] Mopar abody no lift k-member brackets kit for suspension and engine removal&install

Showing your age if 1985 is "newer". I think M-B did that even in the 1970's cars. Somewhat strange designs, with some designs thoughtful for maintenance and other designs over-complicated for rich owners. Can do that when price isn't a major concern. My point is that if you do remove an...

1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

Old slants are fun, I daily drove a 71 D100 for years, 225 3 on the tree, 3.91 gear. I would still be driving it, if it did not get tore up in an accident. Not fast but it would pull good, with good mileage, the wife and I camped with it before kids, after the kids came it hauled their dirt...

June 29/30, Raleigh -any shows or cruise ins?

I find myself in Raleigh NC this weekend, wondering if I might stumble across any interesting car related activities. I didn’t find anything via google, wondering if anyone here is local and knows of anything?

Best cam for the street both power & sound

don't forget, you can advance a cam as well....you can install a 110 LSA cam on a 104-106 ICL to close the intake valve sooner and get more cylinder pressure....IIRC it's ground like 4 degrees advanced (106 ICL). 22 years ago, I had the XE262 in a stock long block 360, it felt very healthy with...

    1/2 price models at Michaels

On the plus side, you no longer have to have that "birds and bees" splaining to your kids. They no longer ask, "where do babies come from" since saw that and more on the web. But, the aberrant activities might confuse them ("no, we don't do that"). Even in the 1990's, I had to keep my boys...

    Mystery Rattle Noise

About to head to the garage and hopefully get everything buttoned back up if I don't get too distracted or nothing else comes up. @George Jets I haven't forgot about getting photos of the carb. I will take off the air cleaner today and take a few for you.

440 damper timing marks not correct

Purchased a 77 440 "rebuilt" from a member here, and decided to go through it as I could not get any machine shop info. It was advertised as a forged crank, which it does have. VIN pad is stamped 8T440 E, No vin number, so okay someone put a forged crank in it maybe? It is also stamped on the...

I seen something similar a year or so ago, but the pole snapped, the car stopped, and the other half of the pole went thru the sunroof. Airbags and blood everywhere.

John Force in a bad bad wreck today

The body might look fine post-crash, but it is the brain banging around in the skull that is the biggest concern. Boxing recognized that years ago (old punch-drunk fighters) and now soccer (heading balls) and football is slowly coming to realize the damage with the NFL even pondering flag...

273 Engine will not start - Ideas?

Agree. Checking spark. I like to get "right to the coil" so to say. Use some sort of actual wire to temp. replace the coil secondary wire. Rig that to some sort of test gap. Crank the thing, and if you can, use a wide test gap, 3/8 to 1/2" The thing should make nice hot blue...

In 1917 Altoona works with Westinghouse built a single electric locomotive for the Pennsylvanian Railroad, a prototype design designated as a FF1 numbered 3931, eventually given the nickname "Big Liz". It was built to haul freight trains across the Allegheny Mountains where the PRR planned to...

Best cam for the street both power & sound

Yes just watch how terrible a low cr 318 with factory stall and highway gears goes. With mild cam, 272/272, Lift .454/.454 110 IC 62*, mild porting, 4bbl and duals. Look at all the time spent under 3,000 rpm, felt like forever.

Cranks but doesn't start using the key. Starts when using a remote starter switch.

Thanks! THAT DIAGRAM (and there are similar ones) is SOMEWHAT MISLEADING. At upper right where it says "start position of ignition switch" it is important to realize that they are talking about the IGN2 contact, and that it is "live" in the start position. There has been confusion...

    /6 rebuild advice

They are very clear on "don't overtorque". Since the torque they spec is so low, I clean the oil pan bolts and holes well and use thread-lock. That is after first bolting it up all around, then go back and threadlock each bolt w/ proper torque. I don't have a small torque wrench so use...
