I went through the whole cam walk dilemma went I was turning crazy rpms also. Put an aluminum thrust button from a single bolt big block cam on it and my oil pump gear wear and timing related meltdowns went away.

Have a nice complete 727 trans for a 67 383 in an A/B/C with a four barrel. Case number 2801543. Had a guy looking for a good core so I dug this out and pulled the pan and valve to check it out. Air checks good, would be good core for a 67 big block A-body resto. $250.00 picked up from 49055.

I went ahead and sent my 69 top plate so he should be able to make a nice template to sit on top and drill the holes through. Looks like he has a good start on making up the hard to find parts for these . Good luck with the project Dana.
