My X was not always right...but she was never, never, never wrong!!!!! That has nothing to do with the discussion here,,,,, just more tidbits of knowledge!! Go figure. I will add this. I well remember discussions from, some Mopar engineers on the mags decades ago (when we had good Mopar mags...

Does This Debunk the "Coolant Can Flow Through the Radiator Too Fast" Idea???

A guy gave me a receipe (homebrew with a caustic acid solution) then neurtalized. It worked for me on an old slant that really needed it. I was scared!! Surface rust is one thjng, scale is another. A heat gun aimed all over the radiator when hot will show the spots not doing their job...

Does This Debunk the "Coolant Can Flow Through the Radiator Too Fast" Idea???

...its not the stat! or lack of one. People always ask, why does my old car run hot???? How many times is because the engine block was full of rust and c*** and thus all that got into the radiator. Whats wrong with my car. Runs like c***. Ever clean the gas tank and filter and thus...

How do modern cars regulate temperature so well?

I moved my '76 318 roadrunner other day, and forget about it, left running a good half hour. Temp still was at its usual 180 degrees. All OEM radiator, fan, shroud, stock engine, etc. Temp was 96 and heat index was bout 106. NO wind. Texas. Go figure.

    Is this a fair radiator?

Another detail I understand that can have a bearing, are the rubber seals generally found on the underside front and rear of the hood. When I get a car with AC, first thing I do is pull it. I want to work on the engine and not have it all in my way. I drive with the windows down, screw the...

    Is this a fair radiator?

Funny how I never had a cooling issue with these cars back in the 60's, 70's, but that was original cars, not pieced together, bored out, parts missing, corroded engines, etc!! I have yet to build an old Mopar and address all the issues (post $5) plus a few more and not have a car run at...

    Is this a fair radiator?

    Is this a fair radiator?

I vote read post #5 again Then again. A few other comments followed that also matter. Back in the day these cars cooled just fine OEM and yes there are some other things that can help today, too. No reason a good 2 core is not totally adequate IF everything else is correct! Post #5!!

    Heater box for A bodies.

Can't say for sure but a Tx old car boneyard guy (extremely knowledgable) told me the 67 box works in the dusters. I had bought one for a 71 duster but it sold before I tried the box at all, so in other words I don't know!!

    Running Hot?

I admit I did not read all the remarks, but I will also say, check the size of the pulleys, that can often be a problem with mismatched parts. It can make a difference. Many time these engines have been rebuilt from missing and mis matched parts. Having the under hood seal can be a...

    another 360/408 over heating

I realize I am old and "out of touch" with modern, but IF we could cool these cars with OEM parts decades ago then why is it people seem to think they need elecrtric fans now on these old cars??? I understand bore a motor out 60 thous, change cams, timing etc and that does make a difference...

need 22 inch OEM style radiator

The volare in question, is a 318 26 inch radiator. I was saying last year I was able to find oem rad for my slants, 71 duster and 79 volare. I could not find a 26 rad. for the 76 volare anywhere in oem brass/copper, not even NAPA.

need 22 inch OEM style radiator

Not for the 76 F body. Ones for 22 small block also has different inlet/outlet size. I will call their rep to see if I am correct. I said 22 inch but I meant 26.
