    Edelbrock carb adjustment

They are stuck with those carbs as they have no choice. Given the option between what the rule book says is legal and what ever carb their heart desires, I guarantee most if not all would be running something else. Likely a Holley.

Need some help from my head machining buddies

The deshrouding cutter I commonly use has a °15 bottom angle to it. My "go to" performance intake profile is °35 x .080" top °45 x .040" seat °65 x .100" bottom.

Need some help from my head machining buddies

As mentioned earlier you can't take big cuts with it. You'll have to toggle between 3 angle seat cutter and 75° bowl cutter when increasing valve size. The more angles you try to cut in one shot will cause more deflection. I have used a DCM, Sunnen VG20, and a Kwik Way Head Shop. The Kwik Way...

Open Chamber Heads vs Closed Chamber Heads....

Yeah the old 396 bath tub chamber is the true definition of a closed chamber. I tend to consider anything with a decent size dual quench pad to be a closed chamber such as the magnum. Heads like the SB 302 or BB 915 not really as they only have one closed pad, I put the W5 in that group too.

Open Chamber Heads vs Closed Chamber Heads....

The problem with trying to acheive quench with a dome piston and an open chamber is that none of the chambers are cast the same height. The 596 heads off my 360 are about .020 different in height from one chamber to another, and can be dipped over .015 from one side of the chamber to the other.

Open Chamber Heads vs Closed Chamber Heads....

I agree if we're talking power adder motors, but high output NA will have closed chambers. Here is a Chevy RO7 cup car head probably one of the best NA motor head made in the last 20 years. Looks like a tight compact chamber to me.

    Opinions on windage screen

I get what MOPAROFFICIAL is getting at. Some of these things work better in certain circumstances and operating conditions.

Open Chamber Heads vs Closed Chamber Heads....

Quick somebody call up Trick Flow, Dart, AFR, Brodix, Profiler, and let them know they are all doing it wrong LOL. Hell even the new "HEMI" has a closed chamber.

    Opinions on windage screen

Its a Milodon 32255 for a SB Chevy thats been modified. The mounting holes just need elongated and the rear area by the oil pump cut off to fit. The one in my pics has been further cut up.

A shot of the other side. Going from 11.75 to 12.5.

    Opinions on windage screen

My biggest concern is to keep the crank from pulling oil out of the sump. I'd like to get away with running 5 quarts of oil. I cut away the screen on the pass side to let the oil escape the tray and be peeled off by the scraper and not drop back into the tray. I was thinking about emailing Kevin...

    Opinions on windage screen

Just curious to hear some opinions on this set up. Motor is a 3.58 stroke 360 that turns 7000 on gear change and 7200 or so out the back. Can't go wrong with the crank scraper IMO, but the windage screen is debatable. The screen should keep the crank from pulling the oil up out of the sump...

Open Chamber Heads vs Closed Chamber Heads....

The only reason Mopar went to open chambers in 68 was to reduce NOx emissions. There is no performance benefit in open chambers.

Caltrac’s and high rpm doesn’t mix

I'd also try lowering the start line RPM down to let the motor get a run at the converter, this might help soften the hit.

Caltrac’s and high rpm doesn’t mix

Loosening the extension should allow more separation of the rear suspension. If it hits the tire too hard try adding some air.

Caltrac’s and high rpm doesn’t mix

Try the lower hole on the front spring mount bracket. It will lower the IC. The rear ride height will increase which might make the IC change a wash, but worth a shot. You may need lower ride height rear springs. I would also loosen the rear shock extension a lot. The car has no separation on...
