The XE256 is a good little cam for a street 318. I know because I installed one in my 1970 Valiant hardtop (Australian, same as 67-69 Dart) when I rebuilt the 318. Same combo as yours basically. Nice, slightly noticeable but smooth idle, good response, lots more power than the factory cam...

Yeh I see that now, 410 buried right at the end. Just trying to help, mate, and I did proceed on the basis it was a smallblock. As most stroker assemblies are internal balance then I suppose that's the flywheel you're going to be looking for. Good luck.

Yes you did, sorry about that. I was just reading the post immediately above mine and providing the link to Brewers in case anyone wanted it. Was happy to find a new comp plus shifter for $200, Brewer's are good value.

You didn't say what engine you want the flywheel for and you seem to have a number of different engines so it's hard to tell which. But if it's not a 360, which uses and external balance flywheel, but a 318/340 you wont have any trouble finding a flywheel. Just need 130 tooth flywheel for 10.5...

Can you weld die cast? I can see how the inner housing "popped" out given the inner housing is bolted to the body brackets and effectively wants to pull itself away from the outer housing. So gluing the inner to the outer housing was never going to be an effective method of manufacture...

Your 68 what? In my 68 cuda there are mounting points for the rear lap belts on the floor pan.

275/60s with 15 x 8, 4.5 inch backspacing no problem on mine, perfect actually. But my axle width and spring location is not stock (fr0m to drum rear axle 58 1/4 inches from memory, and I have 1/2 inch spring relocation kit. You wouldn't have needed to use external balance flywheel etc on a 360 stroker, stroker cranks are internal balance arent they?

Surely cant be mopar 833. Look at the irregular shaped front face (ie. where it mounts to the bellhousing).

If your looking to upgrade to large bolt pattern (if the one you bought is small bolt pattern) Dr Diff has good deals on new axles with the green bearings pressed in....I bought a set for my 8 3/4 and he's a treasure trove of information, great to deal with

I second that. The orange paint is going to obfuscate the grill. I ended up blacking out mine (after being freshly painted) and the grill looks much, much better....

408 stroker....3rd gen hemis are ugly looking IMHO ...only hemi that belongs in a 68 cuda is a 426

you can get thos decals ("King Richard" I believe the font is called) from various places....phoenix graphix for one.....or get them made up as suggested above

Looking great Tony! Been waiting for updates on this thread, one of the more meticulous restos on this site IMHO. Nothing like pics of a freshly painted car, and black on red is one of my favourite combos, considered it long and hard for my 68 before opting for blue on black, but at least I can...

I'm putting together a 408 stroker for my cuda. Just wondering whether I should seriously consider upgrading to 4 bolt main caps as added insurance. What have others done in their builds? Will the factory 2 bolt mains be more than adequate to handle the extra power the engine will dish out?

I read it as $800 for the 8 3/4 axle/diff. Anyways, a 741 (assuming in good condition) will be fine. I scored an almost new (little used) 741 suregrip carrier with 3.55 gears for $400 over here. The axle housing (with a 489 open carrier) itself cost me $200. I'm surprised you pay that much over...
