My 8 1/4 came from a 74 Dart and had a 2:45 gear and I had no problem installing a new suregrip with 3:55 gear in it.

From what I experienced changing the steering gear box on my Dart, they changed the spline count on 73 and up A-bodies.

What kind of mileage have you guys seen? I can't see it being any worse than my 87 RAM with a 2 barrel 318 (about 10).

Subscribed, I have the option to put a 440 with an 18 spline four speed in my Dart. The only thing that was stopping me was threat of poor handling.

How is it fraud if your not changing the VIN? If you put it that way, it would be fraud to add anything to a car that is not an original part.

Suppose you don't have one, is there a place that still makes them. I was thinking the same thing as my 72 dart was just a basket case, missing the fender tag and build sheet, when I got it.

I'd go the 73-76 disc set up. Did the same swap on my dad's 64 Valiant with no modification at all for less than $500. I could not belive how big of a difference the braking power was between disc and drum in that car.
