    Holley float question

I'm rebuilding a Holley 1850, it's old, in fact I took this thing apart to clean 35 years ago, I then sold the project it was for and put it all in a clean bucket. Anyway it wasn't that old when I took it apart so the throttle shafts etc are tight etc. Now many years later as I already had a "...

    Mercury outboard question

When your re-installing it helps to wiggle the control handle to move the splines back and forth once you have the gearcase almost back on, sometimes the flywheel to, and yes it helps to use the correct parts, lol

    Mercury outboard question

Steve, FYI I own a Mercury dealership in BC, what your seeing is normal, the exhaust housing or mid section has water in it when running so when you tilt them down with engine off it will drain and not freeze, when they run water continuously pours out, perfectly normal.

What made you drive a MoPar?

Great question syleng1 , I was about 10, sitting in the passenger seat of the family car ( a Ford) my dad driving, I spotted a 70 Superbird entering the hwy on ramp, " what is that dad? " my dad was not a car guy and had no idea, I was in love right there and then, and of course found out more...

    Reconditioned this cool light

Thanks, I gotta find another, there are re-pops but there is just something about a original part, just think of the Arkansas back roads this thing has seen now it will be cruising around Vancouver Island almost 70 years later! BTW this would be pretty period correct for this old utiline short bed!

    Reconditioned this cool light

So a little while ago I purchased a tail light from a member hear, it needed some tlc which I knew so once I received it I took it all apart to re-condition , this included, sand blast, soak in evaporust, some wire wheel work, weld in some new mount studs, a new socket, then fitted with a new...

    Longer coupler??

I think these are not all the same, some are longer, that's what I need.
  18. mopar56

    Longer coupler??

The photo dosnt show the coupler installed because it had to be removed to install the bushing.
  19. mopar56

    Longer coupler??

As mentioned earlier there is another thread here " bushing or not" all my photos are there but I posted one here to, yes all those components move as one except the inner shafts are actually two d shafts that slide into each other, IF I slide the lower shaft down the bearing will come with it...
  20. mopar56

    Longer coupler??

No because the bearing would slide down to and no longer be seated in the column because the shaft diameter above the bearing on the shaft is larger than what goes though the bearing, I need a longer coupler.
  21. mopar56

    Longer coupler??

My son replaced his steering box and switched from power to manual and used a adapter on the stub of the box to the shaft, we didn't like the slop in the shaft where it came out of the steering column so we ordered and installed a bearing in the end of the column, ( see previous post here, "...

    Bushing or not?

Success!! Thanks very your patience and helping. Me through this honestly I'm not stupid, I just did not want to break anything, now I know how I could probably have had it apart in 45 min, I was able to gently persuade the pin out of the rotor enough I'll just slide it back in, no damage.
  24. mopar56

    Bushing or not?

Ok, thankyou, that makes sence, all I see is the crimps I will try to get the ring off, now with out the special tool can I punch it out with out worrying about damage if I'm careful?
  25. mopar56

    Bushing or not?

I did download the service manual, it's a bit vague it says to install the tool shown in the photo to press out a pin, I do not have that special tool, nor do I think anyone dose, plus there is no pin to push out, it's simply a plate od which I attached a photo from another site, I have searched...

    Bushing or not?

So I was reading back through some post in this thread, 72blunblu said there is a ring in front of the rotor you remove then the rotor, I do see a small black ring on the rotor surface but I can't remove it using picks and I don't want to destroy it there must be a secret to remove it? This...

    Bushing or not?

Ok, there is progress, I managed to get the bearing out and then the upper collar or can or whatever you call it, now behind that is a circlip and then the rotor. IF I can remove the rotor the shaft should slide out, honestly I can not believe how many pieces there are to this, it seems it was...
  28. mopar56

    Bushing or not?

Ok, great advice guys, maybe I'll try removing the bearing with a couple of strong 90 degree snap on picks, then maybe the puller as well? For the can? I'll get back in the shop and giver another go!
  29. mopar56

    Bushing or not?

Ok, sorry, maybe I'm blind, here is a close up of the bearing, from what I can see this bearing needs to come off the shaft it is pressed on in order to remove the upper column peice to get to the rotor, but you can not get to the bearing with a puller because it is inset? I do not see a clip...

    Bushing or not?

Still not apart, arrgghh...so I've taken it even further apart! I swear a rubiks cube would be an easier puzzle, there is a shot here showing three of the four shafts slid into each other, one photo shows the upper bearing its pressed on the shaft so the shaft can not slide through the can...
